I am looking to purchase a concealed carry pistol. I have been doing some research online through manufacture sites prior to trying to get some of these sidearms in my hands and see how they feel to me at local shops. Is there a website I can go to to read reviews on various concealed carry weapons?

It is SO very opinion based and user preference. What works for one guy won't for another. Body type & size, type of clothes you wear, environment, etc. are all just some of the factors that go into picking out a daily carry piece.
Best to try before you buy. Go to local ranges that rent guns and try several then ask more questions before you reach for the wallet.
I carry a 1911 most of the time followed by a G19 and S&W 642.

How big are you? What sort of clothing do you wear?
If you're a big dude who wears loose fitting shirts, it'll be easy. Otherwise you'll need a compact pistol, with very thin, low-profile holsters. I carry a Glock 19 when I can (winter or if I'm wearing a suit), but otherwise a Kahr or a 5 shot Smith revolver. When you're wearing shorts and a t-shirt in summer, you are gonna have a hard time hiding a glock. Unless you're a big dude.
Also, frankly, the $200 handmade leather holsters--Mitch Rosen, etc--generally double the size of the gun. IMHO, they are a liability rather than an asset. The $25 suede holsters are thin, don't allow easy reholstering, but are much less detectable. Unless you're LE, if you have to draw down, the last thing you're going to worry about is how easily you can reholster. There are also ultra thin Kydex holsters--like those made by FIST--which work great. Again if you're a big dude, it doesn't matter. If you are trim, you are going to have more of a problem.
The Kahrs, at least in 9mm, are my favorite--much narrower and easier to hide than a baby Glock, basically the same size as a 5shot S&W revolver, but they have a much longer sight radius than a 642 and shoot almost like a full-sized pistol. My P9 will shoot 2" groups at 25 yards if I do my part. That said, I've found them to be finicky with the 8 round mags. The 7 rounders seem to work with everything, the 8 rounders occasionally have FTFs--which is the known, common problem with these guns. Also the Kahrs eat recoil and striker springs like crazy. No big deal, but they need a bit more love than a Glock does. Still about 1/4 as much as a 1911 does, though.

I'm a slim guy and I have trouble even carrying my G26 in the summertime when I don't feel like wearing a jacket or the like. The Glock is just to thick for discreet summertime carry for me. I have been reading about the new .380 deep carry pistols (Kel-Tec P3AT, Ruger LCP, Kahr P380) which are very thin. I don't care much for the Kel-Tec or LCP cause the grip is just too tiny. The Kahr on the other hand is just a hair thicker but still thin enough to carry very discreetly. You should check out these .380 pistols if you don't like the bulk of the bigger pistols.

You can carry whatever you want, you just have to dress around the gun a little.

I own or have owned a couple of dozen 1911's and variants and have never had any more trouble with them than with any of my Glocks (and I have, in the past, anyway, shot a LOT). I don't mess around with them any more than with any other gun, either. It always amazes me when people talk about problems with a 1911 and how much effort it is to get one to run properly.
Do you want to optimize things for carry just so you have a gun of some sort with you or do you truly want to have a set-up that is effective for a gunfight if you are ever to get into one? If the former, get a crappy suede holster and a Bersa...if the latter, look into a Glock with a quality kydex holster and some training.

I myself, carry a full-size Sig P220 in .45ACP. I'm also not a big guy. 5'7", 185lbs, 32in waist. Some say that's too big for a concealed gun, but I've not had any issues with it. I do dress around my gun though. I wear a lot of button-up shirts, untucked. Can't remember who said it, but it's stuck with me, "Carry the biggest gun you feel comfortable carrying"
Caliber wise, don't go with anything smaller than a .380. The new .380 +p rounds will do the job just fine. I'm probably going to go with a .380 or some kind when I get back CONUS for when I don't feel like carrying the .45 wearing shorts and a t-shirt in the summertime.
Stay away from stuff like Hi-Point and whatever other cheap shit out there, but that's pretty much a no-brainer. And you do get what you pay for.
Also, I've heard a lot of good things about the Crossbreed holsters. Crossbreed will be my next holster though. I carry mine in either a Bianchi IWB, or I throw it in my Maxpedition Jumbo pack.

Go to a local action pistol match those guys are good people and may even let you shoot some of there carry guns. When I was shooting that sport we always welcomed new comers I am sure it has not changed.

I live in Puerto Rico, where its summer yearlong. Im 5'8, 170lbs, 30" waist. I mention these details because I dont wear "concealment friendly" clothes. On workdays, I carry a Glock 27 on a leg holster. Whenever I dont have to tuck my shirt in, I take either a Kimber 4" barrel.
The G27 is definitely not as good a shooter as the Kimber, but, Id rather carry that than a lighter caliber. I know that each time I pull the trigger, its gonna fire.
But, as others have said, its a very personal thing.

Everyone has their own preferences, but whatever you choose, I suggest thinking about whether you want a laser or light, and finding a holster you like that fits everything.
For reliabilty, it is hard to beat a revolver, but reloading is slow. Lots a good semi-autos out now. Then there is caliber, what is your minimal caliber desired? Larger the caliber equals less capacity, and usually bigger or thicker pistol. For me, 9mm is minimal caliber and I like the cheaper cost and availability of ammo. Others like larger caliber such as 40s&w or 45.
For 9mms, CCW, I agree Kahrs are great for thinner profile, smallest and lightest being PM9. PM9 is very comfortable and easy to conceal but short barrel compromises accuracy. P9 is to me almost the perfect size, width and weight for everyday all day long CCW.
Glocks are great and dependable, but are thick for summer carry or when you have to tuck in your shirt. G26 is smallest 9mm, but G36 is thinner 45.
The list is almost endless. Here are some more to consider, each has it's pros and cons. Sig p239, Sig p228, H&K p2000sk, XD subcompact, Kahr K9, Beretta px4 storm, glock 19.
As far as holsters, Crossbreed supertuck with their belt and Velcro loops is hard to beat. Lasers...crimsontrace.

My opinion is that you should not be uncomfortable and should not have to dress in baggy clothes to carry a pistol. This pistol should fit you not the other way around.

I have carried for over ten years and found most people have no clue if your armed or not. But if you know what your looking for you can spot an armed person. I have carried Glock 22,23 and 27. with no problems. I have even carried my 1911. My advice is to go to the range and shoot as if you were on the street and being confronted by a "Bad Guy or Gal" and have a person time you. practice practice practice

I recently got my hands on a Kahr P380 and thought that is what I had to have. They got one in at the local cop shop and one of my colleagues bought it out from under me, (dickhead) but as it happens it was for the best as they also had a Kahr PM9 so I bought it. This is one of if not the most accurate out of the box handguns I have ever fired.
I researched the CC holsters before I bought. I have worn a .38 on my ankle the past 16 years as a backup so I bought a Galco Ankle Glove Light, in a word, Awesome!
After much research I also bought a Crossbreed MiniTuck with standard clips and V clips.
When it arrived I thought everyone that recommended it was thumped in the head. But I gave it a chance and wore it all day the first day working in the yard so that it could mold to my body.
I am glad I did, it is so comfortable now I don't even know it is there and best of all no one else does either.
I wear it when I go out in shorts and swap between the ankle holster and the minituck depending on how I am dressed for work that day.
Like many have said personal preference will be the final determining factor.
I am a firm believer in "drive before you buy". Try them all.

I prefer lots of smaller rounds or a few big ones.

If you can't take care of a situation with 6 rounds then you are probably going to die anyway.

Sadly I don't live in a CCW state, but I would check out the Walther PPS if I did. It's not cheap, but I like my P99 a lot.

You guys have a lot of good points! Bravo! I have a question of creativity, or rather my lack of, for you all though... I can and will get a smaller gun when i find one that agrees with my full-size-pistol-loving mitts, IF, I cant figure out a place or way to properly conceal my beloved 1911 in the summertime... In winter, the wonderful blessing of a coat is easy enough, but in summer, I prefer wearing tucked T-shirts with my various ACU pants and hot-weather boots. anyone have any ideas or solutions of either placement, or a loose overshirt that actually goes with Multi-cam pants, lol? If it helps, in winter and whenever I can, i wear it in a Galco high rise silhouette at my 4-5 o'clock.

First off, let me say that I am a 1911 man.
However, it can take a little more effort to conceal than some others.
I have a Kahr CW45. It's thin and the grip is plenty big enough to hold onto comfortably. It has a 3.6 inch barrel which in my mind, 3.5 is the minimum you should have to get the velocity needed out of a 45.
I've yet to have a FTF and it has shot everything I have run through it. It does a great job with 185 GR Hornady Critical Defense. That will give you the expansion you should have.
I wear a shirt and tie everyday to work (no coat). With a IWB Garrett Industries Silent Thunder Kydex holster (leather lined for smooth draw and saves the finish) made by Tucker, I can hide it under a white shirt tucked in and you'd never know it was there.
Lightweight pistol that delivers combat accuracy and is concealable and comfortably carried every day.
I do have a Kel-Tec p3AT that rides in my front pocket in a Nemesis holster. I wear slacks with that shirt and tie. No problems with weight with it either.
I'm not a huge fan of the 380 but like it's been said, it's better than a rock.
If you go with the P3AT you need to get the finger extension you can buy. Makes WORLDS of difference in being able to hold onto the little pistol.

First off, let me say that I am a 1911 man.
However, it can take a little more effort to conceal than some others.
I have a Kahr CW45. It's thin and the grip is plenty big enough to hold onto comfortably. It has a 3.6 inch barrel which in my mind, 3.5 is the minimum you should have to get the velocity needed out of a 45.
I've yet to have a FTF and it has shot everything I have run through it. It does a great job with 185 GR Hornady Critical Defense. That will give you the expansion you should have.
I wear a shirt and tie everyday to work (no coat). With a IWB Garrett Industries Silent Thunder Kydex holster (leather lined for smooth draw and saves the finish) made by Tucker, I can hide it under a white shirt tucked in and you'd never know it was there.
Lightweight pistol that delivers combat accuracy and is concealable and comfortably carried every day.

You are going to have to go around like you have been and try the fit in your hand and then you will still probably buy and sell a couple. There are so many good carry guns out there that you will have no problem finding a few that you like.

I have been really happy with my Glock 33 for concealed carry. I put it on my ankle with khakis or a suit, and in a pocket if I'm in shorts.

I carry and love my glock 19. Glocks are great carry guns because if you have to use it you can't fumble with a safety.

All I can add is train take all the classes you can. If you pull it you need to know you can use it under pressure.
FWIW I am 6' 175# 32" waist I carry a Wilson CQB Elite in a Matt Defatti IWB with belt (what ever you do get a good belt). A button up untucked and I have been around alot of LEO that never knew I had it on me.

I carry the pm9, para p12 45, or kimber ultra carry 45. 5-11, 185 32 inch waist. Never had any issues. Like all 3, but the kahr is my summer carry.

I can conceal a full-size Smith and Wesson M&P .45 with a Surefire x300 under a loose fitting T shirt. They use a very thin kydex that wraps around your waist, and if it's not the best holster you used they will take it back and give a you a full refund. The wait to get one is pretty long right now, but well worth it.

Les Bear Stinger... I'm jealous. That size is the ideal in my mind. I run with a commander 1911 in an iwb Crossbreed holster. I love the option of tucking a shirt in, and it's got flexibility as to how you want it to interface with your belt (c clips, j clips, velcro).

Glock 27, very small, .40 cal, 10 rounds, and most importantly no safeties to fumble with under stress.
Theirs a reason that Glocks are so popular with so many police departments, they are reliable, very affordable, accurate out of the box, and you can teach anyone to shoot them.

I also have a Sig P238. It can be a little small for some hands and the 6+1 capacity can be a drawback to some but having the controls match a 1911 can allow you to carry the 45 when clothing allows and the .380 when more discretion is needed.

I considered the Officer's frame mated to a Commander's slide the perfect carry gun for years. Was first introduced to it more than a decade ago when I got a Colt CCO. It's a handy size for sure, but I find the Glock 36 more convenient for daily carry.
You know as much as I love the stinger I've been toying with the notion of trading it for a full size Les Baer. It doesn't see much use and I'd likely shoot a premier II a lot more.
The bottom line for carry; get the most powerful cartridge you are proficient with in a package you can easily tote around concealed. Easier said than done, but after having done the 1911 thing for a while I've settled on the Glock 36.

Taurus Millennium Pro or 24/7 Compact in whichever caliber you prefer. I'm partial to .45ACP and I couldn't find anything else that could carry 10+1 rounds in such a compact/lightweight footprint(though I expect a Para Warthog comes close). Plus under $400.
The new Walther intrigues me, but I haven't heard any feedback.

I currently carry a officers model 1911, but I will be switching to a Glock 27 this year due to the 1911's weight. The Glock 27 was just lighter. I still enjoy my 1911 but for comfort it will be the 27 in a Comp-Tac Minotaur holster.

I have a Kel-Tec PF-9..its a great little pistol i trust my life with it, but I am not comfortable taking shots with it at over 15yds. @ 15yds I am shooting about a 5-6in group. Id like to pick up a M&P 9c as I am comfortable shooting out to 25yds with it.

If you get the chance, check out a Sig P239. Thats what I carry. It fits good in my hand and is easy to conceal. You will figure out if you like polymer guns the first time you pick them up and compare them to an alloy or stainless framed pistol. If you don't mind them, Glocks are cheap and reliable.
