What are contours between rem varmint and the really heavy amu/m40?

Bbl contours are different between bbl makers. Go to any custom bbl maker website and they will list the contours with the dimensions. krw

I recently found out that even the Rem Varmint contour is different between manufacturers

My Krieger Remington LV has an almost identical contour to the M40.

Also, my google-fu turned up a barrel weight calculator that I thought was pretty damned nifty!

By the way, if you are using a target taper, set the initial barrel (B) to a hundreth over the intended width. THen use a small (E) and the actual barrel width for (F).

SO for instance. A rock creek AMU to be finished at 18 inches.

A) 18
B) 1.26
C) 1.060421 (remember that the diameter at the muzzle on an 18 inch cut has to be calculated, because the .900 diameter is on the barrel blank at 29 inches!)
D) 5
E) 0.01
F) 1.25

Results in a guess of about 5 and a half pounds for this "short" AMU barrel.
