Years ago I picked up a Remington 700 ADL in .308 from Bass Pro on a Black Friday deal.

It was before I knew much about PRS, or just good distance shooting in general.

I'd like to convert it into a 6.5 Creed shooter. Hit me with my best options....stock, barrel, etc.

Thanks for all the help!

You might be better off selling the ADL and buying an entry level PRS type rifle.

Otherwise a barrel replacement is about $700 and a chassis/stock is about $1k.

Most affordable route would be a Preferred or McGowan Barrel, 8 twist, KRG Bravo chassis and Magpul AICS magazines.
The magpuls will need a slight widening at the back of the feed lips for best feeding. I also prefer to do a little work on the feed ramp for the 700's chambered in a Creedmoor cartridge.

If it's like the one I bought from Dicks Sporting Goods back in September of last year for 395.99$, I would just put it in a KRG Bravo chassis, MDT 20 MOA rail and get there10 Round polymer magazine's. I would also put a Area 419 Hellfire break on it, get some 175 SMK's go have some fun.

Doing this, may also leave you some cash to get a good scope, like a PST Gen II.

Sounds solid...I believe it's the same rifle. It gets surprisingly good reviews for what it is. I dont think I'll be able to turn it into a good PRS shooter but sounds like it can become a great hunting rifle!

Criterion 6.5 barrel, Northland Shooters Supply recoil lug and a barrel nut (I like the Zermatt nut).

Grayboe Renegade or Ridgeback stock with bottom metal package

A decent trigger of your choice

Nightforce scope mount

Notch the feed ramp to feed from AICS pattern mags

Go shoot the hell out of it. Nothing else is needed.

For that kind of money, don't bother. You're simply not gonna come out ahead. I can't begin to tell you what rifles to start looking at around that price range but many here can...assuming that is base rifle. Even if that's all in, I go by a savage And start out ahead.

There's nothing wrong with that action being a base. A decade ago Choose a lot of options that you have today simply wasn't available. Now, You might save a couple 100 bucks

Sounds like I got myself a .308 hunting rifle. Maybe just convert it into a BDL stock.

Sell the remington.

Bighorn Origin 900ish
Barrel from anyone of the Criterion or X-caliber resellers 475ish with nut
Chassis or stock with magazines up to 900ish to 1100ish or even a lot less like an MDT(some lugs don't fit the Bravo.
Athlon Cronus 1500. Maybe 1000ish used

XLR 34mm rings 70ish

<$3500.00ish

Thats what I did, started with a savage and moved up to big horn origin. HUGE improvment. Bravo chassis X-Cal barrel, Ares ETR . Everything under 3k
