New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
I made my first attempt at neck turning today using the attachment for my Forster trimmer. I ruined two cases before getting the hang of it. The brass measured between .016-.014 so I trimmed to .014. This was all crap Remington brass that I figured was good for practice.
It looks like you need to turn them more. That is, take it closer to the shoulder. Lots of us actually cut into the shoulder, just a little. Other than that, it looks like a good smooth cut. Lightman
Thanks for the input guys I was worried I was going too close to the shoulder from the Forster directions but I think I will take your suggestions. I will practice on some more cheap brass before I move onto my lapua stuff.
Yup - you want to just barely nick the shoulder. Otherwise, that neck area that you didn't turn will wind up as a tight spot inside the neck (after you fire them) and jack up the seating/sizing operations.
