I just read up on these quite a bit the other day, would they have any practical use for someone who isn't a collector of antique firearms? If I understand it correctly, if I had one of these, as it is an FFL, I can have firearms, or suppressors, or the likes shipped directly to me without having to do a transfer, or no? I'm currently in DC, but will be moving back to Missouri after school, is this something worth pursuing?

Re: Curios & Relics FFL ??

The only firearms you could have shipped directly to you are those that are c&r eligible. That generally means at least 50 years old but The ATF has a gigantic list of firearms that qualify. There are a handful on the list that are newer than 50 years old but not many. And no, suppressors don't qualify. Unless you actually collect c&r firearms the license would be of little use to you.

Thats not true! Not by a long shot. I have a C&R and it helps me get generous discounts frim midwayusa, grafs.com, Brownells, etc. And its not limited to just C&R related items, everything from reloading gear to firearm accessories and scopes. The $35 I spent on the license was made up for in the first order I placed with Grafs.com

It's like $30 for a 3 year license which gives you discounts at various stores and the ability to have C&R eligible firearms shipped directly to you with no FFL transfer fee. It pays for itself and then some. You gotta think about how many firearms were manufactured 50+ years ago, and every year that goes by, more are added to the list.

Just an FYI, if you are going to be moving to Missouri, you HAVE to have an FFL (C&R qualifies) to be able to possess NFA items. This is state law.

And yea the discounts are pretty nice and sometimes fairly surprising!

All NFA laws still apply. I'm not even sure if there are any Thompsons on the list, there may be but I don't remember ever seeing them. So no you cant just buy a full auto weapon and have it mailed to you with no transfer or anything.

Re: Curios & Relics FFL ??

You have to be a "dealer" to own ANY NFA items in MO.

A C&R legally makes you a dealer.

This does not restrict you to C&R items.

You have to have an FFL to own NFA, and a C&R qualifies.

You still hve to go through the process like everybody else for autos and suppressors, getting an FFL is just the first step.

Plus, you can indeed have guns that are listed as C&R shipped directly to you.
