I have a Remington 700 30-06 straight from the factory no modifications except a different scope. Well anyway, the bolt it came with performs fine but the nob looks a little rusty and it's a sore spot on a beautiful gun. I was wanting to know if I there where any custom bolts that are made that would slide right into the gun without sending it to a gunsmith? I'm sorry if there's a similar post to this I searched and found nothing.

Re: Custom Remington 700 bolts

Given manufacturing tolerances, you unfortunately cannot simply swap bolts and ensure that the headspace remains the same. At the very least, a measurement must be made using the appropriate gages.

If your concern is simply aesthetic, the cheap-n-simple fix for the problem is some steel wool, a dab of cold bluing, and the regular application of some oil. There are a variety of other firearms finishes that can be applied a home or by a competent gunsmith - everything from spray paint to a baked-on finish. Most of these will be cheaper and easier than a new bolt.

Well I really appreciate all your suggestions. The badger bolt is kinda what I'm looking for but I don't have the balls to try that to my bolt. I believe I will take Eric's suggestion and use cold blue. It seems fairly easy, just remove every bit of oil and paint from the knob. Then follow the directions.
