I just picked up a CZ 452 with the threaded barrel and I am wanting to build me a trainer.I looked at a few stocks and it seems that most are for the varmit heavy barrel.I am sure the barrel channels between the varmit and the 16" threaded are differnt. You guys that have this model what stock did you go with,Manners,McMillan,Boyds etc.If you have pics can you please post them.I dont want to buy one and the channel be to wide.
Thanks,
Jason

Re: CZ 452 tact stock question

I do not even know where to begin.I have no problem giving it a try.Can you give me a starting point after I purchase the stock?
Thanks,

Re: CZ 452 tact stock question

Treat it just like a bedding job. Use some wide tape to tape the underside of the barrel lengthwisea couple thicknesses of tape and bed the barrel in the entire barrel channel. You have now moulded a perfect barrel channel to fit your barrel. You will have to touch up the paint to hide the bedding material. Better yet sand it all down and give it a paintjob of your choice. Very nice results can be had with simple rattle can paint. If you are a bit of a handyman it is no problem and you will save yourself a bunch of money. If you have the means then of course the McMillan stock made to order would be nicer, but if you are on somewhat of a budget you can have a very nice stock by filling the wide barrel channel on the Tacticool.
P>S The tape is there to automatically create a floating barrel.

Re: CZ 452 tact stock question

I have a boyds Tacticool I got for my 452 American and the barrel channel is not that overly big. I'm sure with the heavy profile varmint barrel you will be looking just like a normal stock with a varmint centerfire setup. For less than $100 the Boyds is a nice stock.

Re: CZ 452 tact stock question

For this particular application you could use plain Bondo if you have some experience with it and can work relatively fast. You are only using it in a cosmetic application. If you are going to bed the action use Devcon or Marine-Tex.
