Couldn't agree more. I'm a huge Smoke fan and I'm disappointed to see he and Jr so involved in this chicks career. Between the Grand Marshall fiasco at last year's finale and the onslaught of a full year of this woman's media circus, I may be catching Daytona, 'Dega, and Bristol and skipping the rest of the season. Maybe her and Brian Vickers can get in a slap fight in the pits or something. Only thing this chick is gonna have in common with the honey badger is millions of people laughing at her.

Agreed on all points, having worked for NASCAR for 6 years it is sad that there are so very few drivers of Mark Martin's caliber left.

I will tip my hat to Tony though, as my experience with him was always on the up and up. Which leads me to believe the Danica deal is simply business.

Juan Pablo Montoya is channeling the honey badger philosophy and it's not working out well for him. NASCAR Cup racing and the honey badger is a recipe for frustration, no matter how hard your PR rep works. She's got skills, but then again so does JPM. She had Eury Jr as her crew chief and Junior's equipment. In Nationwide that should have been an easy top ten every time out with her skills. Kyle Busch is the only one with the skills to back up the honey badger mentallity. She's nowhere near as talented as Kyle and at the rate he's going, even his skills may not be enough to overcome the honey badger attitude. She could learn alot from Mark Martin or Matt Kenseth. Mark or Matt's driving style and her vagina would be a recipe for sport dominating appeal/success.

The bitch with Jr was, he was very good in the NWS, and started out ok in the Sprint Cup... then he immediately dropped to a 15th place driver... he constantly hovers around 18th for most of the races then scurries up if he hasn't wrecked.

So I am no sure if originally he started out over rated or just dropped to adequate, thus becoming over rated ?

Jr. did great when his dad was coaching him. He just doesn't seem to have the
savy to keep a car dialed in for a whole race. Still a decent racer and very likable
guy. Makes his car owner lots of money, that's what nascars about these days.

I have had a couple chances to interact with Jr. without any cameras, press, fans etc around. Pretty good dude, very humble and shy. My very own take is that on his own he would have done fine but the ever present ghost takes a lot of energy and feeding that in turn could be used to perform better but at the end of the day he is tapped out.

As to NASCAR in general. It's simplistic appearance (OHV engines, heavy cars, old school tech, etc) belies the fact that it may possibly have the narrowest margin for superiority in all of racing. The level of car handling and the ability of the driver to interpret the needs of setup are incredibly crucial when compared to racing series that allow telemetry and electronic controls. The JPM's, Danica's, et al who come from the "superior" racing series have traditionally never been able to get their arrogance in check in order to learn the skillset needed to win in NASCAR.

Justification for the antiquity (relatively speaking) by claiming superior parody only shows a naivety of auto racing in general. NASCAR on the hierarchy of auto racing skill set ranks at the bottom just above drag racing. And as far as the whining, complaining, and the blaming of others for her lack of performance on the track, is no different with most of the other driver in the nascar.

I admire her for saying whats on her mind and not caring about what others think, I just wish a few other drivers would speak their mind like Danica, instead of just playing it cool with the media, in fear of what they say might get them in trouble with nascar and their sponsors.

I'm hardly naive to racing. I never argued NASCAR was superior. I said it was much harder in NASCAR to be superior and that lack of technological advancement makes for a higher level of parity between teams than say F1. My point was that when the likes of your girl Danica can't hack it in Indy Car she thinks she will just run down and beat up on the hicks a little. Ultimately, history has shown many better than her have tried and failed as they can't wrap their little minds around the idea that for all the antiquated tech, you still have to DRIVE a Cup Car.

I'm not a Danica fan by any stretch when it comes to her racing skill. I've always said that if she was ugly she would have been unemployed years ago.

She made a decision based solely on money. I laughed when everyone was debating on where she would go because I knew she'd never win big in Indy so the money was the only alternative.

The so-called parity between the teams is a hindrance which also makes the racing unattractive. It's a step above the IROC series.

If you'd ever spent time with her not in front of a camera it'd be obvious. She's a spoiled brat who is used to getting anything/everything she wants either by her daddy paying for it or her daddy's money influencing someone else to pony up and give it to her.

She was a disaster in the Atlantic series, Katherine Legg was/is a much better driver. We used to take bets in the timing shack at each turn to see how many times in a row Danic(unt) would miss the line before she accidentally followed it and put together a fast sector.

She's "successful" because her daddy has LOTS of money and she's a pretty face in a male-dominated sport.

I've always felt like she should have an advantage in racing if for no other reason than purely of her body weight compared to a man's.

She's good looking and all, but I am underwhelmed at the mediocrity of her finishes with the weight advantage. Somehow I think it's all about Danica (win or lose) and never about team. That makes for poor chemistry and continued average finishes.

I can tell you despite those cars bring fortified for wrecks, in about 3 days her entire body will hurt.
She's catching a lot of crap for the video showing her hands off the wheel and in front of her eyes before impacting the wall - she said it was from her Indy training.

I was always a CART fan myself; my only experience with NASCAR was doing a skin cancer screening at Texas Motor Speedway and encountering many fans who said they couldn't afford to get their skin cancer treated but could afford a $200 NASCAR ticket x 3.

Awesome to see Lowlight is a NASCAR fan. I hope Danica kicks ass I really do. I have a daughter and don't want her to think there are limits to what she can do. But Danica has yet to prove herself at all. She was so so in Indy cars, won one but it was rained out. That is an asterisk every time. The deal with NASCAR is endurance, the races are twice as long in cars that handle 1/4 as good as indy cars. The media makes a huge deal about her but she hasn't done crap to deserve all the attention except grow boobs, exactly what I don't want to teach my daughter. If she can prove herself I will be her biggest fan.

I had a bet for the race that she would be in the first wreck. I had $20 before the 3rd lap. I will give you that most of the wrecks she has been in are not her fault. she seems to be a shit magnet. Also this is what happens when running 20th or worse no matter which track.
