Gunsmithing DD Ross Quality 2012?

I just talked to Dan Ross about ordering a recoil lug and he offered to help build my rifle. At first I was excited due to his work with the USMC, but then I read about some bad experiences folks here have had in the past.

Anyone got any leads on his quality now days?

I have never seen anything bad or poorly made come from DD Ross, but regardless of how good a company or product is there will be somebody who has an issue with them. I have used his bottom metal and it truly is a top notch product.

My buddy shoots a DD Ross built 300wsm. It shoots one whole @ 100 with his handloads and is built with all DD Ross M40 parts. The rifle is top notch. I would not hesitate to have anything built by them!

I have all things DD Ross on my 2005 M40A3 semi clone the differance is an A3 and Mike Rock barrel. Ross is another marketing under achiever. He must have enough work or he would not still be in business. Im pretty sure if you have a Ross rifle built it will be built by him and not an apprentice or another smith. It may not help with your 2012 QC question but I think he will do a good job.

It was a while back but I think he really effed up on a M40A3 build.
