Did I screw up??

I am in the market for a high end scope. I had a guy on here tell me he had a used one for sale. So I was interested in the scope. I have a few friends who are cross country truckers, so if I buy one on the net I was going to have them pick up the scope for me.

So I asked the seller three times where he lives. And I stated that I would not buy something like this off the net without pictures. He would not tell me where he lived. And that pictures were a hassle. And then his comment was that I was too difficult to deal with?? Was I being too difficult??

I do not want to mention the name of the seller because he has a pretty high post count. And I believe him to be honest. So I will not besmirch his name(no need for that).

But was I unreasonable on this?? Tom.

America remains a free country, as they say.
You had the freedom to ask for certain things and he had the freedom to decline.
No harm, no foul.

I would have sent you the pics, but the truck driver thing was a bit weird. Given truckers' reliability issues, I would have simply opted to pay the shipping (as the seller) and not gotten caught up in a whole fantasy of the reliable and punctual trucker.

Oh yeah. Forgot to mention it, but Maser has a fairly high post count too. Just saying.

Tucker you could be right about the truck driver picking up the rifle. However I never mentioned to the seller that I wanted to have a truck driver pick up the scope. I only asked where he was located, to see if I could arrange a pickup. I never mentioned by who. However if I was selling a $1,000 scope I would have no problem with the buyer arranging a pickup. I would not care if it was arranged by a Gypsy, as long as the Gypsy had the check in hand?? Tom.

Personally, I'd prefer to let that check clear the bank before letting that gypsy out of my sight.

Ya, I see your point. I never thought about that. But it is a scope only. That would be under handed if a rifle was involved. But as far as the check was concerned it would need to be a Postal Money Order. Tom.

I won't agree to buy anything without actual pics. Unless the member is someone I have done business with in the past and respected. That being said there are some I have done business with that I will never let work a deal with me.

Oh yeah on the sell....I think the seller doesn't want to sell that scope that much if he can't at least post a picture of it....pass on the deal.

You just inferred Maser is dishonest T. If Maser PM's me, I have something of fairly solid value that is gun related I will send him to look at, then send back to me. It comes with a certain level of trust I will grant him. Why? Because even though he is Maser, that does not mean he is lacking integrity. That, questioning ones integrity, is grounds for an ass whooping where I hail from. I'm just sayin, let's give the kid more credit than that.

Got ya, I read through the original post as the individual seeing the guy was dishonest because he didn't want to send pictures etc, inferring he may be lacking integrity. Straight. I would still rather think of trading with Maser than a few other true DB's around here though because he does a pretty fair job of at least showing more integrity than some
