Best to just buy M&P backstraps for under $4 it makes easy and cheap practice. </div></div>

The backstraps are considerably different than the frame polymer of the M&P and other polymer framed pistols. They melt at a much lower temp than the frames and it is easier to burn completely through them. The M&P pistols have a similar polymer to the H&K pistols and they can get pretty abrasive, a quick going over with fine grit sandpaper tames the feel. The Glock, XD and Kahr pistols have a softer feel when stippled and usually won't need anything done after to be comfortable.
