Did some shooting today with new rifle.

Finally got my new Savage 10 PC .223 out to the range with some extra time to play with the scope and set stuff up. My buddy came along with his new Remington 700 AAC-SD .308

We set up at 2 tables on the 100yd firing lanes. Took a few rounds down range to get the scoped zeroed in. Here is the 2 best groupings I had today.

Bushnell Trophy 4-12
Remington UMC 55gr. FMJ, and also Fiocchi Extrema 50gr V-max.
Caldwell bipod, and a rear squeeze bag for support.

In total I put about 70 rounds through the rifle today. Some groupings were ok, but later on through the day they became wider. I don't know if its because the wind picked up pretty good or because I was getting damn COLD. Maybe I ust got lucky with these two, lol. I'm gonna upgrade my cheap Caldwell bipod to a Harris sometime soon. And just keep practicing trigger work. Hopefully soon I'll be able to get grouping like that or better consistently.

Nice shooting, what I have found with mine is it really likes 77smk and 69smk. The best groups I get with mine are always with the 77smk over some Varget.

Yes...another thing I need to explore is better quality ammo.

what is the twist rate? i have a 1-8 20" and mine really likes 77 smk's and 75 hornady bthp..both with varget.

Check your action screws. My 10PC started to open up on me after a while and once I re-torqued them it was good again.

What do you guys think of the cheaper "Match" ammo, Fiocchi, Prvi Partizan??

i never had consistent sub moa groups using really any factory ammo, but handloading was a completely different story... but i have always heard good things about 69 smk's through a 1-9 twist barrel.

and i think you can get fiocchi loaded with 69 smk's..might be worth shot..try ammotogo.com
