Does the Tacmod stock require a side charger?

I've got a buddy who needed to change his upper to a side charger because the charging handle wouldn't clear the Tacmod. Now, he is a very short guy so I was wondering if his situation is unique or to be expected.

It shouldn't. You can move the cheek piece around. It was designed for a normal AR platform.

I'm assuming the cheek piece still needs to be far back enough to not interfere with the charging handle.
