Ok so Im loading up some 175g SMK 308 loads for my remington 700 SPS tactical. Last time I went out I shot factory 147g winchester ammo for the brass and used JBM balistics site to make up a quick little dope card to go off of... Dam thing was spot on. I was really suprised.

So Im looking to use the JBM site again to get a quick card to see how my 175g loads do and make sure I hit the steel doing so..

Only thing is either they got rid of the program I used last time or changed it or something or Im just doing something wrong.

I put in all the info and hit calculate.. Only problem is at 1000 yards with a 100 yard zero it says that I should only put in about 18.9 clicks (.25 MOA) of adjustment or hold .5 of a mil.. and at 800 yards adjust 10.0 clicks (.25 MOA) for elivation or hold up .3 mils.. Is that correct?

Because for the factory 147g FMJ loads it told me to adjust 36.8 clicks (.25 MOA) of eliv. or hold 10.7 mils. for 1000 yards.. and 27 clicks (.25 MOA) or 7.1 mills. at 800 yards...

Thats quite a big difference between the 2 loads.. I know the 175g SMK's are far superior to the cheap factory loads. But are they really that much better????

I think I'm just adding somthing wrong or the calculator is acting screwey or somethings going on but that just doesnt seem right to me..

If this is in deed wrong.. around what should my adjustments be for those ranges??

Im shooting a Remington 700 SPS tactical 20" 1:12 twist barrel
175g SMK .308 load getting around 2700 fps. at about 2100 ft above sea level in dry desert average temp 70F to 90F.

Whats the link to the system you guys are using.. Maybe Im using the wrong data creator.

Re: Does this seem right to you???

Depends on the velocity of the bullet as well, of course. I shoot my 175's hot at about 2740 out of a 24" barrel and have to dial in about 11moa for around 500 yards and 34moa for 1k. Don't try to determine how many 'clicks' or you'll be around forever counting them. Worry about how many minutes or how many mils and be done with it.

Re: Does this seem right to you???

Not really I came up with a simple way to fix that.. devide the clocks by 4 and thats how many numerals I go over and the remander number is how many clicks past that I add to the adjustment.

Found that works best for me when under stress shooting and under a time crunch

I used "Bullet Flight"'which is an APP for the iPhone or iPod Touch. It works great!
