Don’t be a poor coffee!

Holy crap.

actually ..... that is the holy grail of coffee beans.

Too lazy to take my own picture. :D

I bought a 5 lb bag of this, like the flavor, but the beans are extremely dry and messy when ground. Light brown in color, and flakes get everywhere when set on coarse setting. Other brands I use don't do this.

Are others finding this too, or did I get an old bag thats been sitting around for a while?

I ground some for the keurig today and definitely a bit dusty.
I think I ground it a bit too coarse.
I grind it pretty fine for my Bialetti and it’s not dusty or flaky at all.

This thread makes me wonder, do we have a dedicated bean/roasting/coffee thread here in SH? didn't see anything in Maggie's section. Or is this now it?

Conical burr grinder set to fine. 1/2 cup beans for 9 cup pot. Coffee tastes under caffeinated and a bit hollow. No citrus tones noted.

Will try with 3/4 cup beans next time.

Mid morning follow up. Under caffeinated was probably the wrong term. I feel as awake and energized as I would with other coffees. I drink from a bubba mug. I put in the 9 cups of coffee on top of 2 oz heavy whipping cream. The German did describe that this coffee reacted strongly with cream. So next time instead of trying more beans I'll cut to one oz of cream per 9 cups coffee.
be careful, I finally received my coffee (very late, thanks USPS) It says on the bag, due to the drying process, small rocks may be present. That will destroy your favorite burr grinder.

When I was in San Blas Mexico I went to a bar and they had great coffee. The name is Capulin. It is a fantastic coffee. you can do a quick internet search by that name and they come up. They have a really good description of how he coffee is collected and processed. Not going to post links as I don't know the difference between a "hot link" and a legitimate link.

Tried this Canuck coffee out.

It’s quite nice, very smooth yet distinct cocoa/dark chocolate flavor.
Aftertaste has legs and is quite nice.
Not a super bling coffee but definitely a nice everyday driver coffee.

Drinking this today.
It’s fantastic coffee but I feel it’s better out of my bialetti at home.
I also have some Costa Rica Geisha from the same farm and I prefer it from the pour over I do at work over my bialetti.
Funny how that works.
Both coffees are flavor bombs yet smooth.

My nephew owns Oak City Coffee Roasters. The website hasn’t been updated to reflect him as the new owner since it was recently finalized. He studied under Bill to learn the art and then took it to a whole other level with the relationships with the growers and beans from all over the world. New roasts added have propelled them into many coffee shops and grocery stores in the Raleigh area. I am very proud of him.

The growers get a much better profit in his deal and his coffee is fantastic. It’s as much a mission to help those folks who are typically impoverished as the growers as it is a business.

My personal favorite is the Inca Link, in a cold brewer it is magical.

5lb bags are the default but if you would like five 1lb bags of different roasts just contact Matt and tell him uncle Paul sent ya.

my mom was the same way ... I just shook my head. My grandma would do the same and add Pall Mall cigs to the mix. It's a wonder I don't have lung cancer from being around her :ROFLMAO:
I'm a byproduct of the Greatest Generation and was the walking air filtration system in our house and car.
I'm surprised I didn't develop lung cancer by the age of twelve from all the cigar and cigarette smoke. Maybe playing outside in fresh air was the antidote.
