I was wondering if anybody has a good round for out to 700yds? I am shooting the 168g Amax right now. Does pretty well but its really windy here in KS. Just wondering what everyone else out there is doing?

I have had really good luck with the Lapua 170 grain lock base. Very high BC too.

I've been running the 178 AMAX in mine. They do nicely, I was sending them out to around the 1100 yard mark a couple weeks ago.

I've been shooting a DPMS LR308 for quite some time now out to 1000 yards in competition. The best loads tend to be with the 178 AMAX.

I always got the best groups from the 168 AMAX with my LR-308 with the 18 Bull barrel. From memory I was shooting H4895 BR2 primer and the amax. I took that gun out to 800 yards often and it always performed well.

I have the DPMS LR 308 with 24 inch stick.
Buy the way I wanted to say thanks to everyone for answering so quickly. I will be trying all three rounds and do a comparison.

Also try 175gr SMK w/44.2 Varget. But ideally you should work up several batches ranging from 43gr to 45gr (I prefer Varget)spread out in .2 increments (ex. 43.0--43.2--43.4--etc) until you find what your particular stick likes. Once you do you can then play around that load in .1 increments. GOOD LUCK !!
