I finally managed to shoot my new to me SASS .308 Saturday. It was after my pistol falling plate match, so i was a little tired and cold. This wasn't a true range trip, but I did manage to confirm it has a firing pin.
My first impression- the PWS comp and Buffer Tech hydraulic buffer coupled with the semi-auto action tames the .308 a lot. It didn't feel as if it had much more recoil than a .223.
At first I was hitting somewhere off the target backboard. I couldn't figure it out until I remembered that the rifle I last had the scope mounted on had a 20moa base, and this LT-104 on the SASS is 0 moa. That seems to make a difference.
This rifle does not seem to be picky about what load I shoot through it, but it does have a slight preference for 43gr os RL15 under a 175gr SMK.
I didn't do much more than get it sighted in, but I did have one group that had 10 rounds within a 1" group. Not too bad considering I was shooting off bags, but the buttstock was just in my shoulder. I couldn't hold it completely still after shooting a rimfire then a centerfire pistol match.
More when I take it out again.
