DRD Tactical AR15 Upper Reviews (?)

Can't comment on repeatability since I haven't had a chance to shoot either but designs seems robust enough. Proprietary barrel nut is well made and although they say it can just be hand tightened, a simple castle nut wrench can provide extra torque. When the handguard is installed and lever thrown, it prevents the barrel nut from turning. I've got 308 and 556/300blk combo and both make for compact packages when broken down. They're a bit pricey though.

I like the Grendel for hunting and 556/223 for fun. I'd likely be switching back and forth between the two quite a bit. So long as the poa and poi is consistent once I have the zero on each barrel recorded switching would no problem.

If you have the opportunity to verify I would be very appreciative if you would post back with your experience.

Will be a while before I get a chance to test so maybe someone else will comment, but I'm pretty confident they are good to go. Brownells usually has the extra barrel nuts for a few $ cheaper than DRD. DRD also has some neat aluminum bbl/gas tube caps. LaRue has similar nylon PreadatOBR caps for much less. The 7.62 bbl nut thread is unique (20TPI?) but with a little heat can be screwed on and allowed to cool nicely reforming the threads. Can't remember if 556 thread is different. DRD used to have short 556 handguard that I wish I'd gotten as it doesn't show up on their site anymore.

I ordered the builders kit and received it yesterday.

Likes:
1) The billet upper design is nicely done, and very light.
2) The rail is very light considering it has the latch.

Thoughts:
Edited - After more review I'm happy. Now I need to assemble and test.

I'll try to post pictures later.
