Drive carefree in NC.

See what they did there though, you can drive thru so long as you use "due care." The police and DA will decide what "due care" is and if you are a criminal or not after you drive thru. As a NC driver you have no way of knowing in advance if running over a particular group of protestors will meet that standard or not.

If you blow your horn and slowly drive through, giving them enough time to part, then that'd be okay. But they're gonna be beating the shit out of your car and windows. What if they break them? What if they then attack your family?

You freak. Snap. Whatever.

You shoot or you gun it and either way somebody(s) will die or get hurt, now there'll be an outrage and you'll be dragged through the system. This is a stupid bill. I like the idea I guess, but in practice it's not gonna work.

Sounds like a 'test case' is needed.

If a mob attacks my car (literally me and my family) and breaks out my windows I am going to respond with deadly force. That's not going to be akin to freaking out, snapping, etc. It is going to be my measured response to a life and death situation vis a vis me facing an angry mob that intends murder or serious bodily harm based on their actions.

Yea, I'll get dragged through the system, which is preferable to seeing my wife and little boy dragged through the street! All day any day. Nothing to think about.

Looks like this bill died in NC senate committee over a year ago, the article is that old too, so this went nowhere. https://ncleg.net/gascripts/BillLookUp/BillLookUp.pl?Session=2017&BillID=H330

I'm glad I have a long history of ingraining evasion tactics through formal training and procedure including "skinny pedal on the right" as the first step to getting out of such a situation. I think I could stand the test on the stand. Fortunately for me though, the only mobs I'm around these days are the town's herd of mule deer who really don't give a shit what you're driving, they're taking their sweet ass time crossing the road.

In NC the castle doctrine extends to your vehicle. If someone is trying to forcibly remove you from your vehicle deadly force is legally authorized.

That being said there's no way I'd slow down enough to let that be a possibility. No amount of protesters are going to stop a 9k lb Ram 3500 in 4 low.

Somehow, I don't think my Hyundai would make it very far creeping through a mob of angry social justice cunts at 5 mph. Does this bill have a speed limit? I could say I was aiming for the gaps between the little warriors and whoopsie...
