What drop leg holster would you recommend for a Sig p226 with insight M3X light? I've been looking at the Safariland 6004, but are there any other good alternatives? Where would you suggest purchasing this?

6004 is pretty much the standard. Please wear it correctly though . . .

Yes, I'm wearing plate carrier or chest rig. I'm more accustomed to serpa holster and like using index finger to unlock before unholstering sidearm. But I don't think blackhawk's holster allows for other lights.

Yes, I'm well aware not to wear drop leg holster around the knees dangling. I know that holster should be worn as high as possible but low enough to clear vest.

Just asking about options. Thanks.

I don't think they do, but if and when they do I'd buy one! Serpa's are awesome but we have some guys at work with their lights and they don't hold up that well. Turn off when you fire.

Re: Drop leg holster with light

I used to run a serpa for my 1911 at work. I switched to an M&P and went with a safariland 6320. I'd say they are about even on speed of presentation and I know you can mount a 6320 on their drop leg platform. I'd look into it. They make one with the traditional safariland hood too if you desire more retention.

Re: Drop leg holster with light

I would have to say the safariland 6004 for the thigh rig. With that said I have a blade-teck that holds glock 17 with surefire light. I've been impressed with it, but I do not have it as a thigh rig. Im sure you can get them that way, but I would still give the slight edge to safariland especially if you need a hood for retention.
