Exactly!! Thats why I started with it, maybe I've just come full circle.
Come to think of it, it'll smoke alot a things

It will smoke alot more than just the 7-08...put it this way a 180 berger hybrid G1 .674 G7.345 moving at 2940fps (which can be easily obtained) is around 6.7 mils to 1K! The 180 berger has a better BC than almost all 30 cal bullets until you get to like the 215-220+ range...also you get better performance then the 30 cals with a lot less powder. The SAUM to me stands out even amongst the 7mms becuase it uses less powder then all of them and performs as well if not better then all the rest in its class. GO GET THE SAUM haha you will not regret it...

Is a good idea.

Re: DTA caliber dilemma

Fwiw I run a 280 ai in a 28 plus break rock 8.7 twist. 3050 with 56 gr rl 17. 1000 @ about 6.7 mills @ 750 alt. ymmv with different da but that is close. If I had enough money to buy a dta I would run a 32 in tube plus break and a reg 280. No fire forming and brass everywhere you look. Ie 270,2506,3006,280. I haven't quick loaded it yet but I bet it is close to 3100 with no ai. I forgot. 162 amaxes are what I shoot. I am so eat up with shooting matches anymore that is all I think about. Max performance least cost. Ymmv

Re: DTA caliber dilemma

We did a 6.5mm Creedmoor barrel for a friend and it turned out great! I'd still like to do a 7mm SAUM for him because that round is a hammer! D.Miller and I built one on a long action and its a bonified 2k yard gun @ 3,500 DA.

NICE!!! Awesome choice. and going with what you truly wanted to go with anyway so you will have no regrets down the road... just started palying with my SAUM and LOVE IT!

Good luck!

Re: DTA caliber dilemma

Awesome! I'm the guy that JFComfort and D.Miller made a barrel for in 6.5 CM. Great match gun! I just picked up a mag bolt and another extension. I'm thinking a 22" 7 SAUM with a howitzer sized brake for a true match cheating rifle. My only concern is feeding. DTA recommends using 338 mags. I tried that with D.Millers rounds and they tend to nose dive. What is Marks solution for you?

Uh, Mark hasn't said anything about it, nor have I asked him. I'm gonna have to tackle that one myself.
