DTA SRS Custom Barrel Makers

Hey guys,

I am doing some research on a project I am specing out now and need some help. I need to know who is currently offering custom barrels for the Desert Tactical Arms SRS rifles.

I know the following from reading some posts here on the board and through searching:

1) Freedom Gunworks/Bobby Keigans
2) Benchmark Barrels

Anybody else know of any other sources for custom SRS barrels or have a barrel that another company has put together using the DTA barrel extension?

Bobby and DTA uses Krieger barrels. I have very different experiences with Bobby than LL apparently. He was very helpful to me and an all around nice guy. DTA will send barrel specs to your preferred maker for them to contour. Benchmark makes a great barrel at less cost than Krieger.

Glad you like him, he is not getting promoted on this board after the years of shit we have seen from him. Not only here but other places, so he finally found a way to insert himself in the gun industry, whoopie, maybe I'll set up a shop and put my dog in charge of reselling someone else product, he's nice too, the waging tail would be clear indication how sincere he is.

Okay...fair enough, Lowlight. I'll keep that in mind. I was only going from info I got out of a couple of DTA-related threads posted here and this is the first I have heard of problems with Keigans.

Any other thoughts on barrel offerings for the DTA SRS?

Is DTA actually letting you have whatever smith you prefer make barrels now, or are they still requiring you to go to the only one guy they authorize?

I'm curious. This reason has prevented them from selling 10-30x rifles that I am personally aware of.

LL could you pm the issue with Bobby if you don't mind? I've done biz with him for my SRS(forced to) and am I'm curious.

ORD - Just a heads up. Freedom Gunworks does not make the barrels. They order them for folks that want alternate calibers and I believe you can get them from whatever barrel manufacturer you want.

LL - I didn't realize the issue between you two was so huge and will respect SH by not promoting the products of FGW any longer. For the record, I've only done so via PM and if you'd prefer that I not do that either, just say the word.

APA will assemble a barrel for you. They like to use Broughton barrels. You would by the extension and bolt from DTA and then send that to APA. I bet that they would do an awesome job.

I was at APA today to speak to them about a project. I've order a SRS myself and they have and will do a barrel for you if you want. Very busy there. A crew from a Gun Magazine showed up while I was there so you'll be seeing some print on them soon I think. Looks like some really cool new toys in the works also. Lots of good ideas over there.

Apparently you were making recommendations based on bad info. It kind of reminds me of the "don't sell to CA gun owners" bad info people like to spread.
