Does anyone know of a smith who could make a barrel conversion for a DTA SRS in 338 BR, Quiet, Whisper, or the like?

I just shot my SRS with a Thunderbeast Arms 338 suppressor with the 338 Lapua conversion and the 308, and I think I am in love! Suppressed is the only way to go. Now I want a barrel conversion in something that will go subsonic.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Cheapest solution: Subsonic loads in the 308 and/or 338? What's the twist rate on your 308 barrel?

Otherwise:

Yes, there are lots of subsonic rounds that can be done and any rifle builder can do it. The 338 Federal would make a good round to think about as you can get factory brass/ammo as well as being easy to load. If you shove a 300gr bullet way into the case it will reduce the case capacity significantly and still mag feed from your existing 308 setup.

Howdy!Just get some Trail Boss powder and load subsonic for either cartridge.Take an empty case and mark on the outside how far down the base of your bullet seats in the case.Fill the case to this point with Trail Boss and weigh that amount. That charge is your max load, multiply by 70% and that is your starting load.I would suggest you start slightly higher than the start load, maybe 1-2 grains.Load up a ladder up to the max and chrono.I shoot 690gr ball in my 50bmg subsonic at about 60 grains and it's accurate and fun.I forgot, test without your can until you see which load is accurate and stable to avoid baffle strikes.

Here's a proof target off the .260 barrel I have from them.

Call them up and talk them them. I'm sure they'll be happy to work on any project you want.
