Suppressors durability of a supressor

Re: durability of a supressor

It depends on the materials used and quality of construction. Yes they can last a long time if they are not abused. If they are abused they tend to wear pretty fast. Google suppressor tests and you will see some abuse. My dad has one with at least 15K through it and it's going strong.

Re: durability of a supressor

Depends a lot on the can and many outside factors such as, the round count, barrel length, muzzle devices used and heat.

I have been around 5.56 cans that have gotten louder as the round count went up. This was really evident on the SBR's with cans that had over 5,000 rounds through them. The baffels can erode and the gas is not slowed down as efficently.

I have not heard of many bolt gun cans wearing out due to the fact that they take a lot less abuse from blast.

AAC has a lot of good info on this in their blog and on silencer forums.
