Dyeing nylon? (backpacks and jackets)

Hey guys, another question. I have some old backpacks and a jacket, primarily made of nylon, I was thinking of dyeing a more OD color rather than their not-so-tactical bright colors. I did some research, but couldn't find much good info. Supposedly you can do it with acid dyes? Couldn't find much info on more specific types of nylon either, like my ripstop material on my gear. Has anyone done this before?

it is really hard to dye non natural fibers.
