I always get calls and messages from customers that wish to setup a trust in order to purchase their NFA items. If you have specific needs an attorney will be the best option. However, for 99 percent of us, most of the good online trust companies have us covered. I always refer my customers to www.guntrustdepot.com. I used them for my personal trust as well. Over the past 2 years, a few hundred of my customers have used guntrust depot, and I have not heard 1 single complain or had any form 4s get denied. The website has alot of good info as well

If you purchase your trust through those guys, use coupon code 67mgr662. This will get you a very substantial discount of 15 or 20 percent.

317. I'm in this crowd of not knowing what the hell is going on with the trust process.
Does this particular trust allow for specifics such as ownership upon death and individuals allowed to utilize the NFA item? The request seems simple in nature but I'm no lawyer and I've never pursued a trust.

OP sounds an awful lot like he's got something to gain from this, but I could be wrong, I don't know him personally.

Dude, go to a lawyer. I fucking hate 'em too, but it's worth it here. Faulty trusts will still get you a can or SBR but if it ever gets called into question then you get to go into court and explain why you illegally transferred x number of NFA items. Yes, it has happened. Forget that ATF signed off on it, the onus is on us.

IF it was that goddamn simple, all you'd have to do then is take, say, my trust and change the sentence structure enough so it's doesn't meet intellectual property standards yet is essentially the same thing. It only has three signed pages, one of which is notarized, so any kid could plagiarize one. Wanna look at mine? All you need to be is confident in your English abilities like the unknown guy that plagiarized the "original" you fill in online, because if he went to law school he'd be charging $$$ and not for free online where he gets pennies for net traffic and ads.

I've heard of these DIY trusts coming into question so just beware is all I'm saying I have no dog in the fight and I'm not a betting man either. $500 for the one I have considering the x number of tax stamps I've had to buy makes it a non-sequitur. If you can't afford the trust, perhaps NFA shit isn't for you, it isn't for everyone honestly. You do know cans are about a grand plus just pissing away another few hundred to the govt. and to other fees and taxes, right?

Also, with the new law, the only thing the trust does is allow you to have multiple parties to have access to them without you being there. I got mine "back in the day" when a trust was easier than a 4473 and was definitely worth it. Don't know about you, but my shit doesn't leave my sight trust or not unless my wife has it (she's bought her own stuff with it). So we can share NFA items. Unless you have a need for true sharing, she has a can at x location and you have an SBR at y location, a trust won't do much anymore. When you die, all your shit will be divided up anyway and family will get dibs usually. When you die, the beneficiary has to deal with ATF his or herself and they generally do one transfer to that person of all your NFA shit provided they pass the test for a discount. Which will happen with the trust when the last trustee dies anyway. And at the end of the day, do you really care what happens to your shit as long as your immediate gets it when you die? Good luck whichever way you go.

Stryker you hit so much shit I had on my mind when I've been researching and pm'ing members etc. why not just take my buddies trust and copy, whiteout, fill in info and copy again. It crossed my mind. However, your last comments and talking to a dealer swayed me to go individual. Nobody is going to borrow my can. When I'm dead they aren't going to come beating down my door, a simple form to file left behind will cover her ass if she wishes to keep it. That was my main concern. If my daughter shows interest and wants a can when she comes of legal ownership age we will get one on her own for her.
