New here, so please forgive my ignorance. I have looked through other posts and have tried a search, but cannot find the answer I'm looking for.

Though I have read about all of the wonderful scopes that you have written about, I am landing on Leupold. Is there a mid-priced ($4-500) scope that is easy to use.

I am also interested in magnification...not too much but not too little. I am thinking 3-9X40, waterproof, fog proof, etc. Am I far off here?

Thanks in advance. I do not know of another forum that would offer the same expertise that you all offer.

whats the intended use of the scope? Hunting, target shooting, tactical comps, or just a beater gun? If we know what you will use it for you will likely get some great answers as to what route you should take and what scopes to look at

Find a used deal on a 4-14x40 PR Leupold, great scope for the money and can be found used for $600 or so.

Mildot reticle w/ finger adjustable knobs and it'll be a great platform to grow on and hold it's value well for when you want to upgrade.

Great ideas folks. The scope would be for white tailed to varmint hunting.

Is a Super Sniper better than Leupold. I like the Leupold warranty.

Is 3-9X40 not enough magnification or will it be OK?

As stated, we need more info on your intended uses.

You are gonna use the A5 for hunting? Not criticizing; I just thought it would be kind of heavy to lug around.
