Agree whole heartedly! Get rid of the drivel and trash and concentrate on what brought this site to the fore, it's information. I used to be able to sit on this site for a long time to glean an education, but anymore, I'm here and gone in about ten minutes...

I know Im pretty new here but thats what attracted me to this site was the information. Everytime I did a google search for anything precision shooting or for sniper information, this website was always at the top of the list for any topic.

Heres my take on it and its just that, mine, if you want to know whats going on with the 2nd Amendment or whos trying to destroy the 2nd Amendment and what you need to do to help protect the 2nd Amendment then join the NRA. Ive been a member for years, as alot of people on here are Im sure. I get several emails A DAY from the NRA giving me all the information I need about that subject and what I can do to help out. Anything other than that and its just "bitching" in my opinion...........

I dont care for politics either. Theres several news networks to watch for that crap. Im not a politician and dont like politicians and dont trust or believe what they say. The only thing theyre good for is telling you what you want to hear so youll vote for them. So I didnt come here for that either.

On a lighter note...................... GREAT site. Whenever Im thinking about doing something I come here and hit the search button and always find what Im looking for.

Believe me if I had my way there would be alot less morons on this board. Like I said there are sections I would also cut out like the Maggies Drawers, sports, movies etc. No naked pictures. None of the BS. Go back to shooting but it's not my site. If I get the ok from Frank I would go through this place with a slash and burn policy to idiocy and it would go back to what it was 7-8 years ago. That said letting a bunch of people who just want to be moderators to say they are run around the site is not the way. The people are in place but the order just needs to be given.

I'm a new member here and probably should not say a word but maybe thinking as a business owner I thought I would add. From what I can tell its stated in the rules upfront. Also I think frank has trusted all the people on this site in good faith . Very hard to do in this day and time. Lets all remember that it's his ass on the line and not ours. He has to cover his ass and be the way he's being not because he wants to but because he has to. If we screw up we just get banned. If we screw it up for him he gets fucked. This is the best site I've been on and will support his decision because if I don't I would need to go elsewhere. Lets think about what we got while we have it. I love this site, but it's bullshit and intellectually dishonest to say politics is being banned because of unruly members. It's probably being stopped because of the fear that some news source quotes something from this site and that might hurt Frank's income stream.

Thing is I AGREE with Frank's thinking. He would be a poor businessman for not fearing that. That could be devastating for him and his site.

But I say, it will be boring if he gets rids of all non technical talk. At least for me. I find this is the best site on the net to hone my tactical knowledge. But FOR ME, it just became a little mundane....

Did you ever see an off the track political post get stopped by the members putting the brakes on the guys pushing the extremes ? I didn't ? Instead they just get worse until we have to remove it, then we are the bad guys. Never once did I see a member say, "hey that is not helpful or needed to be put in writing on here so knock it off" Instead you guys continuing down the road acting the fool, anyone looking from the outside in would just point to this place and say, "these guys are just as unreasonable and extreme, see we told you" Then the day so kook shoots someone with a bolt action and has links to SH on his home computer they'll be able to connect these written views to his criminal actions.

Pretty simple, we even tried to provide examples, copies of letters we wrote, etc. If you bothered to pay attention during the CO Gun Legislation you saw an example of positive political activism, nobody paid attention but those who were part of it, the rest continued on their merry way.

Well, for what is worth some people have thought about that and choose not to participate on these sort of topics rather then tell somebody to knock it off. But yeah, I've had the same thoughts. Some idiots gets his nuts dipped in shit and the next thing we know it is all over the news that he was here hemming and hawing on bullshit. The home front has changed and the forum needs to make the necessary changes as well to protect itself. In the legal world people are not just people and the company that operates this website is a person too and can be held accountable. So, pretty please with sugar on top. Clean the fucking car.

I agree in principle the about the threads going off topic and getting ridulous at times.

However, Frank, in my opinion you are heading down a path that has a good chance of making SH obselete. 2A topics are pertinant to what we do. We can't get reloading componets, ammo, etc as a result of hysteria and threats to 2A.

Banning of such a relating subject to the shooting sports to me seems like Soviet era / Pravda tactics. (showing my age, sorry).

Better self moderating and more/better board moderators are the answer.

This site receives commercial/monitary support. Most of these companies have political stands, and I am sure have that stance posted on some web page somewhere. What if one of them is tasteless or crude? (impossible I know, but go with me on this). If they advertise on SH, some could misconstrue our stance. (Guilt by association)

All I saying is banning speech on a very related topic to this boards mission just seems hasty and wrong.

By looking at the membership numbers, I would also venture to say that there is a very large number of "non posters" who have issue with this decision.

Honestly, who was drawn here simply because of the 2A subforum? Who has been held captive by what that subforum had to offer? Also, your "scenario" with a sponser having tasteless or crude political crap on ANOTHER website is irrelevant as to what goes on here. Only someone with some kind of ax to grind or an agenda would care in the least to make that kind of connection. If you wanna feel all violated bcause you can't say this, or will get banned if you say that, why not just show some restraint. Its obvious that there is a plethora of other outlets that don't have an issue with people acting out like kids, so go there. Somehow, I don't think any harm has been done against the 2A, and those that are up in arms will either get banned for being stupid or leave. Yes, the NRA, GOA, etc and your state associations as well. I agree with taking 2A activism through 2A organizations, and leaving the Hide discussions to shooting more accurately solely because it went too far too many times.

If you're an NRA member and they have your current e-mail, they'll blow it up. Some are legislation / event type e-mails and most are 'Buy this' or 'Give us that' type e-mails. You'll have to sift through the junk they send to find items worthy of attention, but I guess you had to do that in the 2A section here too.

Also, see if you have a State level org to sign up with. For me, it's Georgia Carry org.

Hopefully the owner or one / some of the mods will make a sticky or something similar.

I'll follow the rules, and I enjoy this site immensely and never ventured into the 2A section really. I have my own collection of tin foil hats, I don't need to add more.

But I will say this: I don't know about the rest of you guys, but whenever I go to the range, or to the gun shop, most of the talk I hear is about politics.

I haven't been in the 2A forum for a few months now. I just realized it was gone today. I don't know what kind of shitstorm went down, but I have a good imagination. I considered it a pretty nice resource where I could find a plethora of intel all in one place. Clearly I will need to find another resource. By the way, that is not a "threat" to leave or bash of any sort. It would take a truly narcissistic fuck to take offense to such a statement. I should know....


While I'm here I will offer up some interwebs advice: I don't like gay porn. When I happen upon a page on the internets that pertains to gay porn, I click the x in the top of the screen. If everyone took the same actions in other parts of the internets, your woes would cease. If you don't like a topic, don't open it. If you don't like someone's views, don't read their posts. There is an app for that you know! If someone reports to you that someone else has hurt their feelings in thread, tell the pussy to stay the fuck out of the thread. If they fail to follow such advice, that is their problem, let them worry about it. If you don't want someone to argue with your views, don't express them. If a post poorly represents the site as a whole, strap on your big boy boots and delete it. If someone represents the site poorly, ban them, but please don't create an entire thread about how you are such a badass for banning people while simultaneously whining like a little bitch about how hard the Mod life is. It doesn't bother me, because I won't read it, but it represents the site in a poor manner and the lowly civilians have to make excuses for you to gain the interest of potential contributing members. Mike ask anyone who has met me. I am pretty laid back and easy to get along with and like to warn people if there is a problem but when people are told something like this and in the way this place has been running they feel they can come in here and run off at the mouth like they have a say in how Frank runs the site then they need a wake up call. This is Frank's site. You don't like the call he is making then leave but if you do then you are the one missing out on what the site offers. There are many many sites to get politics and 2nd Amendment info at. Go to NRA's facebook page. Simple. It's become a liability here and it's done. Like Doc said, just say aye aye sir and move on.
