Well my 260 Rem 700 failed me again during a match, and this time it cost me some cash. I have a rem 700 with benchmark barrel, PTG coned bolt face with Sako extractor running in an AICS chassis and AI mags. I am having failure to eject issues and the bolt/action is leaving fired cases in the action. The ejector seems fine with no issues plunging and has good stiffness. The tension of the Sako extractor on the other hand seems a little soft. When I cycle the bolt S L O W L Y, everything seems fine, but if I shoulder the rifle and run it relatively hard, that's when the problems occur. This is the first rifle I've had with that extractor so I'm looking for some experienced folks to chime in.
I've taken the extractor out and cleaned it, it has plenty of room to grab the rim of the case. My untrained eyes can't find the issue, but I did notice a bur on the pin that holds the extractor, so I filed that burr off and cycled 5 loaded rounds, of which, one failed to eject. I've tried 3 AI mags and 1 Alpha with no differences. I've included a few pictures just in case someone sees something out of the norm. I'm going to order a new extractor with pin/spring as soon as I hit SUBMIT, I need a spare anyway.
Thanks in advance.
