For the .264 / 6.5 caliber , 140 grains

Anyone do a side by side comparison on the bearing surface of the two?

wanting to know if using the RDFS will allow me to seat out slightly further.

Another way to look at it would be, if I had my seating die set to 20 thousandths jump with the ELD-M and I throw in an RDF what can I expect? Closer or farther from the lands?

reason for this question is currently my ELD-M's boat tail sit a little below the case mouth and I want to know if the RDF's will allow me to seat above it while not being jammed into the lands

at .020 off with a eld it is exactly .030 off with a rdf. bearing surface is very close between them but the eld has a shorter boatail

Not to hijack the thread but anyone have a lead in how far to seat off the lands for the rdf? I've been running the eld-m and they like to be seated to the lands in my gun I bought a box of the rdfs to try in it next week and I've heard they like to run about .030 off just looking for a good starting distance to test these with so I'm not waisting ammo

My old 6.5 Creed and my 6.5x47 both like to jump with the 140 RDFs. .030" off in the 6.5x47 and .050" jump in the Creed. But....... I was doing load development this week in a new 6.5 Creed barrel with the RDFs and couldn't find anything that would shoot better than 3/4 and SDs were pretty bad (jumping .030-.060"). I was about to call it quits with that bullet/barrel combo and decided to load up one last test and at .005-.015" off they tightened right up and my SDs were cut in half. Just goes to show every barrel is different. If you are trying to save components I would try .030" off at first, but if you aren't seeing the results you want you may have to do a standard seating depth test.

I don't mind doing seating depth test I mainly was trying to save bullets because I bought just one box and was planning to split it between my 6.5cm and my dads 260 he's wanting to get away from the bergers because of the price difference. And no one around us carries them so I have to order off midway. If they shoot good in either gun I'll be happy though hopefully they'll do good for his so he can cut his bullet cost nearly in half and actually completely in half at the sale price I bought these at. I already know mine will shoot the elds a 1/4 moa or less so I'm not super worried about mine just wanted to try something different since elds are the only bullet that's run through my barrel in the month or so since I finished it

I loaded my 6.5CM with the the ELD's originally and when the RDF's came out I too was excited bout the price to say the least. But I loaded to the exact same load as the eld just adjusted the seating depth for the ogives being slightly different. Results were rather surprising groups at 100 were still bout .5 and dope was nearly identical at distance. Definitely sold on the rdf's for performance is nearly identical to the elds at several extra dollars cheaper.

Well I did tests last week and the rdf is what I'll be changing to. It shot about identical to the eld-m at 100 but 300 yard groups on paper it shot much better shot 1 inch groups. With everyone saying they liked to jump about .030 I started at 20,25,30,35 and they all shot awful except the 35 group which was last. I was getting pretty discouraged as the first 3 shot all about 1.25-1.5 inch groups at 100 then the .35 shrunk right down to about .25 inches. My dad doesn't reload but only knows what the guy that got us into long range said where he loaded into the lands for everything so I tried it to please him and shot them against the .35 the next day and they both shot about .25 inch groups which surprised me but that was my findings all shot with 42.6 grains of h4350

I think I'm gonna shy away from the RDF's. I wanted them since their ogive profile would allow me to seat closer to the lands but since they require a huge jump don't think itll
offset the benefits.

thats why I went with the 147 eld-m
