Electronic remote moving target - ideas again

I have read the multiple threads with people mentioning RC cars, garage door openers and someone in the Advanced Marksmanship section posting a Youtube video of a very nice RC mover system, but that was two years ago and they have not put up the specs/plans.

I have an idea, and need some help filling it out. I have some electronics experience, but not in this capacity. I bought a CHEAP RC controller on ebay from china with 6 channels/relays rated to 24vDC. Seriously, it was $30 shipped from Shenzhen, China and is rated to 3000m so I am hoping to get 400 yards out of it, we will see.

I am thinking of using a 12vDC wheelchair motor, and am assuming I can control the speed with varrying the voltage. I want to have 3 forward and 3 reverse speeds (one for each channel). Would plan on using a cable system and a track.

My question is are there any other thoughts on the motor? The one I was looking at is rated for 350lbs, but is only 60rpm. I really don't want to build a transmission for this thing, so I was wondering if anyone else had set up something similar.

Transmission = Gearing.... Sprocket / Pully Sizes and Tire diameter ....

If your 12vdc wheelchair motor still has the speed control with it, keep it. It probably has the circuits to control speed and direction and you could use it to control your motor. Interfacing your radio unit with it will probably be the hard part.

A simpler way may be to use 3 6v batteries. with 4 relays you could have three speeds and 2 directions. Almost all 12v motors suitable for your application will operate just fine from 4 volts to 24 volts.

A double pole/ double throw relay (DPDT) can control your direction, then use your 3 remaining relays(rc channels) to add in the 6v batteries. Each channel activated will add 6v to the circuit and give you your three speeds. Just be advised, it sounds a easier than its going to be.

a ditch, a berm made out of the dirt from the ditch, a crazy buddie holding a stick with a target on it walking back and forth in the ditch.

plus you get scoring via cell phone / walkie-talkie

Or, you could buy a motor controller that will work with your RC radio and be done with it

As for:
Tire on a hill - range is flat
Trench with buddy - not my range, so digging a trench is out, and I don't think I have any buddies willing to get in a trench with a target on a stick...probably could hire someone at the local big box home depot
Ace - I should have been more specific with my transmission comment

I am going for a single gear ratio that adjusting the motor RPM will be suitable for walking/jogging/running speeds.

That is a pretty nice controller, but it requires either analog input from a pot or true timed pulse RC input passthrough. The el-cheapo RC only has on/off triggering of the 6 relays. It also has SPDT relays so I am going to have to use all 6 relays for 3 forward 3 reverse speeds.
The multiple battery packs is an interesting idea though and thanks, that might be very useful. I was going to step down the voltage with passives, but your idea would be more battery efficient. that is the kind of ideas I am looking for! Will test out the motor at 6,12 and 18volts and see what sort of RPM changes I get. I would guess that it would drain the batteries quick at the walking 6v speed though.

As for the interface - if the RC works (big if) then there is no interface needed. I am using the built in relays directly. Not high tech but I just want something I can shoot at lol
