Enhanced BCG vs Adjustable Gas Block

LOL @ primus "go look it up." The last desperate cry of the man with absolutely zero evidence.

I too have done a lot of searching and shooting. Never seen an SA block fail, never heard of SA blocks failing, and I do know SEVERAL people using them on duty/hard use/"life depends on it" rifles. Zero issues. Same with very high round count rifles on gamer guns. Zero issues.

Side note, I like how Primus totally ignored my accurate description of the KAC gas system and just dropped it afterwards. Think he even knew what kind of system it was?

So 20-50 is normal, 50-100 is "super expensive."

Go be poor some where else. :ROFLMAO:

I don't know of a $50 fixed gas block. In relative terms 5x the cost for the same product could be "super expensive". I am not a "poor". My DD SBR with a 12.5" Noveske cycles suppressed and unsuppressed without needing an AGB. That's the way non "poor" guns should run. My KAC SR15 SBR is just waiting for it's 9.5" 300blk upper to come in stock. I bet that's "poor" too because it doesn't use a AGB?

Funny how you pick at small things not even relevant to pertinent information to try and discredit me. Good play.

1. Enhanced BCG vs 2. Adjustable Gas Block

1. Is only Released some over pressure or too much Gas

2. Is Ajustable right gas pressure ( suppressors , Supersonic ammo , Sub sonic ammo )

:)

"Go be poor some where else" is a snipershide joke. Not a personal dig on you. Sorry if you were offended by that. If you will notice my post above yours, I was complaining about the cost of custom AR barrels. I have to have barrels under 300. I am poor.

"not even relevant to pertinent information." Damn, I bet you were typing like Kermit when you made that sentence.

You came in asking for hate because of your opinion, don't get mad when someone cracks a joke.

50 dollar non adjustable gas block. In relative terms to shooting, the price of a 50-100 dollar gas block doesn't amount to two shits.

You’re right..I did ask for the hate. Got me there.

So, no. Adjustable gas blocks do not FAIL. Never seen one FAIL in my life. Never seen a gun stop working or go down because of an AGB. Thats a a false statement. Adjustable gas blocks get carbon on the adjustment screw, making it difficult to "adjust" the screw the more rounds you put through it and you must know how to fix that. But......who is adjusting their AGB's after they have been installed and tuned?? never heard that one before..
I've never seen one fail in such a way as to cause the rifle to lose function, but there are ways they become fixed gas blocks.

Had this happen to 2 SLR's, the first I just tried to loosen it gently, the second got a full days soaking in PB Blaster ahead of time.

And there are a few reasons to readjust an AGB, I've changed primary loads, changed BCG weights, buffer springs and weights, had a few gas blocks go from a burnt out barrel to the new one..
So if you like to tinker with stuff it's nice when they don't weld themselves in place, not a problem if you set it and plan on replacing when the barrel is toast.

Ive had that happen as well during a barrel change. And yes, the rifle still functioned 100%. Call SLR, they will send you a rebuild kit and a nice allen tool for free. Sole reason I stopped using the SLR's and went to SA. Havent had it happen yet.

Has everyone not messed with Black River Tactical’s gas block inserts? This is my go-to for hard-use defensive rifles I build myself. Clint is a wealth of knowledge and super responsive. I have inserts in Noveske FSB and low-Pro N4 barrels. He has custom tune gas tubes for situations like 14.5 P&W’s. I will be running one of his blocks on a CF Proof Recce/SPR meld build soon.

My take is to utilize both: enhanced or adjustable carrier combined with a customizable gas block.

They all can work together to maximize reliability and function smoothly once you figure out each gun’s individual recipe.

FWIW, I’ve yet to have issues with the Ti SLR blocks, but those are on my hunting AR’s and do not get pushed hard. Really like the product and the company, especially for non-hard use applications. I think they could be fine for defensive situations, but in a more DMR/Sniper role and not adjusting them constantly.

I’m of the camp that you set up the AGB and leave it for the load it’s intended to shoot. When I switch between suppressed and unsuppressed, I figure in a Gemtech adjustable bolt carrier (preferred over Bootleg for hard use - my opinion here also). Works out great for me thus far. I’m not fiddle-farting around with adjusting an AGB on a defensive rifle though... If I have the notion I may run some mixed loads, I’d optimize the gas drive according to the lowest I’d intend to fire through that weapon. I do have my travel AR’s custom gassed this way via BRT ports and Gemtech carriers. Yes they are slightly overgassed, but NOTHING like my barrels were in garbage-gaping-gas-port factory configuration...

I do prefer the LMT Enhanced Carrier combined with a BRT HD Port or Micro Pin Block for dedicated suppressed defensive weapons that I set the gas drive for 77gr 5.56 Black Hills. I only intend to run 75gr Hornady or 77gr Sierra 5.56 loads through these rifles. I’ve never measured dB’s, but I think the longer lock time from the LMT E-carrier drops the ejection port dB’s a bit. Always welcome, in my book!

Just my observations. I’m no professional operator, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!
