I have a Sig 716 DMR, I will have to save for a high quality scope, Was considering an Eotech for short range fun out to 200yds, Or a Vortex 4-16X50 the crossfire model to get started should I put the Eotech on my AR 15 instead and go with scope on 308. I prefer shooting longer ranges with the 308, Is Eotech better served on a 223 over 308

Eotech = cqb style to short range. Don't think benchrest style or "precision" shots. More like minute of man shots. All you care about with An Eotech is effective hits on target.

Scope is where you can get the added Benefits of taking precision shots . Pick your poison

Why would you want a 1x scope on a 13lbs .308 rifle? That is absolutely counter productive. EOTechs belong on lightweight shorty CQB style rifles.

Want to get a suitable scope while you save money? Get a SWFA SS 10x and do-it to-it.

I would certainly agree with that. Despite internet lore of guys using their EoTech equipped carbines to shoot sub-moa groups at 600 yards (all day long, if they do their part), that is not what it was designed for. It is at its best from CQB to 100yds with rapid acquisition being the primary goal.

The word is Gen 1 RAZORs went on sale today. That'd fit your criteria for your DMR. Have you thought about a 1-4 variable for your 5.56? I've used EOTECHs, ACOGs, various Aimpoints, etc but all were lacking in one way or another. I've been using a Vortex PST 1-4 lately & it offers the best of both worlds.
