Alright everybody,

Looking to see if anyone has experience with this AR-10 barrel:

Ballistic Advantage 14.1" 6.5 Creedmoor, Carbine Length.

Will be used mainly as a hunting rifle and playing around with.

Thanks

I don't have any real world data, but if I were building a 14" AR10, i'd go with a 308 Win, 338 federal or even 358 Winchester. I think the 6.5 would be good if most of your shots are 200+ yards and you need it to shoot flat.

Main reason for going with 6.5 Creedmoor is because it’s what I shoot for competition. Don’t really feel like dealing with another caliber.

I know the guys at DMR have had great success with the 16.5 inch bolt guns they are building. Just didn’t know if anyone has gone shorter. The OAL of the barrel will be greater than 16” once I put a Surefire/SilencerCo brake on it.

I don't have any experience with that barrel, but it sounds interesting. Please report back if you use it.

Just an anecdotal comment - the little 6.5 Grendel works great in short barrels (mine is a 12.5") even out at medium-long range, and the Creedmoor should beat that by at least 300-400 fps even in a short barrel. The question for me would be whether it's worth the blast and flash of the bigger case from the short barrel. But if you're using it with a can, I'd bet it'll be a sweet combo, especially if you can keep the rifle fairly light. A 7.5 lb rifle (not counting suppressor) at that barrel length should be easy to do and would be real handy.

I agree with what Yondering said also and since you have the caliber already, and don't want to switch then I say go for it. I have a 12.5" grendel and it's amazing. I also have a 16" 6.5 for the MDR to keep it a short hunting rig, but also have a 12" 358 Winchester on my AR10 just to have a short hard hitting semi auto platform.

I like your style! I'm looking at a 12.5" grendel and run a 16" 308 Fix by Q rifle.
