I have never listened to a single Alex Jones show. Not one. But I have looked at how these two trials have been conducted. The most likely motivation for the violation of his rights goes back to the failure of security systems at the school. The revelation of those details would have undermined the push for gun control at that time. There is a lot more going on here. It does not sound like you are interested in the destruction of the legal system. I am.

I don't listen to Alex Jones. This place, YouTube videos, and one other site make up the bulk of my social media experience. I also don't watch network TV. I'll watch reruns of some show, or stream a movie on one of the streaming services. That's it.

If one has sufficient evidence of libel or slander and can prove damages in a court of law then one can hire an attorney and hold the perpetrators of the crime accountable.
In the case of Main stream media it's gonna be hard to hold them accountable legally or find an attorney to represent you.

I did not follow this at all, but what little I've read here, it seems Jones supposedly caused emotional damage to families because he thought it was BS. How do you assess damages for hurt feelings?
I think Jones is actually convicted of Slander or Defamation. There can be punitive damages - he told The Public repeatedly that the people with dead kids were actors and part of a deep state conspiracy and that the whole Sandy Hook Massacre was a hoax. He made millions of dollars at the expense of dead kids and their families. Apparently the Court feels that his punitive damages should be severe.
There are formulas that the Legal System uses to assess punitive damages but I'd guess that since he made so much money perpetuating this opinion that The Judge feels he should give a bunch of that (all of it and more) to the victims families as they supplied all of his material. Like a comedian who steals someone else's materials and get filthy rich off of it. He used dead kids and a masscre to get rich. Now he has to pay it back I guess.

I have no problem with people recovering ACTUAL damages and understand that (in certain cases) there needs to be punishment/punitive damages. IMO punitive damages should be directed to worthy causes. Getting rich because your kid died is immoral.

Does anyone remember how many parents were part of the local acting group? Does anyone remember those parents of freshly murdered kids laughing and being jovial not knowing they were being recorded and then collectively putting on sad faces when the news cameras started rolling.
