So I shot 20 rounds of 338 on wednesday and was planning for 20 more in the morning.

I JUST tried chambering one of the reloads to make sure...uhoh, nogo.

I forgot to neck size them. I pulled the bushing out of my die so that I could decap without rubbing a dirty neck on the bushing. I was planning to necksize after cleaning. I forgot. Im really, really surprised by how well the bullets are stuck in the neck!

Neck size after sizing: .363
Neck size of properly sized neck with bullet: .366
Neck size of these duds: .372

I don't have a collet bullet puller, and I can't pull the bullets by hand. Was hoping to run the necks up into the bushing without dumping the charge out.

Any ideas/advice?

IMHO, I would somehow take the bullets and powder out, then atleast neck size the cases. Maybe I am paranoid, but sizing a fully loaded round makes me nervous. If you ever saw a fully loaded round go off without he bullet the flame shoots up atleast a foot or more. Enough to make you think twice. With the bullet in the case,I can only imagine the injuries as its right in front of your face and neck.

Please be safe. Whatever you do wear safety glasses atleast for this step.

If you must do this now, try wrapping a set of pliers or vise grip with blue painter's tape and gently twist the bullets out. Buy a bullet puller, I find the collet type a little more comforting than the kinetic type. Either one works.

Good luck.

Sorry I just reread that, push the bullets against something hard and wiggle them loose, it won't take long, maybe even wrap some masking tape on the bullets and use pillars

Alright...back in business. I found a couple rubbery plastic caps for something, and fit them over the jaws of some vice grips. A little twist and pull and the bullets were out. Only spilled. 25gr out of a single case. Worked out well these only have 78.5gr H4350 in them.

Thanks for the idea!
