When or what is a modification to a 223 that isn't legal in FTR , if a gun is w/ in weight specs what exactly is the modification to the caliber that isn't legal.

Re: F Class TR

'Improving' the *body* dimensions bigger than the SAAMI specs for the parent case. Note thats *body*, not anything else.

For example: running in a .223 Ackley Improved reamer is not kosher, but lengthening the throat on a max SAAMI spec chamber is okay.

The idea is to not allow extra boiler room by significantly improving the original case volume. It is *not* generally interpreted as having anything to do with the length of the freebore/leade or cartridge OAL, even though a .223 Rem with a 90gn VLD seated waaaaay out there looks kinda funny if you're used to a traditional mag-length round.

Basically... the fired case needs to pass into, and out of, a commercially available gauge such as those available from Dillon Precision or L.E. Wilson Tool & Die.

Re: F Class TR

+1 on what Monte said!

Fair warning, fired cases have been checked at the last few Nationals, and this will continue, especially as we approach Worlds next year.

The last few years, Mike and myself have checked virtually all of the F-T/R competitor's cases at Nationals.

Keeping people from 'fudging' the unmodified case dimensions will help keep the playing field reasonably level.

Good shooting all,

Darrell
