I havent personally bought any loaded ammo in a while, and have never bought any for an SPR. I am considering buying some and would like some opinions.
I have a new Mk12 Mod0, that is close to being a clone. It was built by PRI and is to spec, with the exception of (depending upon how you look at it) an upgraded barrel. It has a Noveske SPR barrel. I dont load much 5.56 ammo, but am setup to do so. I will end up loading my own, but am thinking about buying several hundred rounds of commercial ammo to break this thing in and see if I intend to keep it.
When I traded for the Mk12 I received about 400 rounds of 68 and 77 grain Black Hills Match. I intend to try some out, but am wanting to know if there are other factory options I should consider? Should I go with what I know is good in other calibers, like FGMM, assuming they make it in 77 grain loadings? Any other ammo offered specifically for SPR's that is real good?
Rifle will used from 0-650 yards at the range for precision shooting. If I keep it, I think it would make a nice coyote rifle, if I manage to find time this winter. That is essentially all that will be done with it, beyond the obvious SHTF type potential that most rifles share.
