Hawkins M5 Style Detachable Magazine Bottom Metal .... Will not latch on a metal Acurate-Mag magazine but will latch on a Magpul magazine. Both magazines are new, never loaded. This was discovered while checking pre-fit before installing bottom metal.

Both mags and lower metal were sent back to Hawkins. Magpul is seated higher because it is locked in. Accurate-Mag hung up on the blued spring tab. I would not feel comfortable removing metal from the mag in order to get it to lock. Also I would not feel comfortable removing metal from a new Hawkins bottom metal. Some clearance has to be fitted in somewhere. I'll follow up when the bottom metal is returned.

Update:
I have been communicating (Email) with Mr. Hawkins. He handled this very businesslike and it did not take long to sense his knowledge in his field. I attempted to pick his brain as much as possible. He gave me the short course on Magazines, Manufacturer's, specifications and his preferences. To solve my issue, he removed a slight amount of the metal from the spring that activates the latch (see photo). Turn around time was less than 5 days, including the weekend.

After my conversations with him, I was prompted to do some additional checking of the magazines I have on hand. I found one Accurate-Mag to be slightly out of spec for my application (see photo) I tweaked it a bit and got it to working better.

Upfront, I don't have a lot of experience with precision weapons. My experience with Hawkins was positive.
