I got to the range today to try to finalise my load work. I was adjusting for parallax and decided to turn down the magnification a little- when I turned the power ring the reticle rotated 15-20 degrees!!

So I guess I'm scopeless. Great.
Any body else had this happen with a Falcon?

Re: Falcon Menace troubles...

It happened to the 5-25x I ordered a couple months ago. I received a replacement, and so far, so good. Although the power ring on this latest model is super, super tight. I wonder if that is their fix for the problem!

Re: Falcon Menace troubles...

I have a 4-14x Menace and the power ring on it is TIGHT as hell! I'm hoping with time it loosens up. Thankfully the reticle is still in place and I shot an FTR match with it @ 600 yards and it tracked great. Eye relief is another thing I'm not real happy about. If you don't get directly behind the scope and hold your head still, shading creeps in quickly. But for <$400.00 I think the scope is worth the money.

Re: Falcon Menace troubles...

Canted reticle on mine also. Elevation turret also bent, and I have yet to shoot it. I did not notice the knob being tweaked when mounted, but this thing just sat in the safe on an unshot backup Sako Quad. Really wish I noticed this sooner(don't know how I didnt notice the bent turret), but will be sending mine in for repair.

Re: Falcon Menace troubles...

It is the last Falcon for me, especially with all the new 2010 scopes coming out with FFP reticles and mil/mil adjustments.

Vortex PST
Bushnell 4200
Leupold (M5 knobs)
Millet Tactical
Weaver Tactical (rumored to be coming soon with mil knobs)

Will be my last. I will eventually get higher end scopes on all my rifles, but I tried to be cheap for the .22lr. Didn't work.

Re: Falcon Menace troubles...

I like mine, I've had it 2 years now with no problems. knock on wood. I havent shot a whole lot with it though, I only have 60 down the tube right now but I have turned the reticle a bunch while hunting and never had that happen

Re: Falcon Menace troubles...

This will be the second Falcon that gave me trouble.

I'm on the fence.

About the Vortex PST 6-24x. Are they out? are they trickling to dealers?
Or yet to be released? or?

Re: Falcon Menace troubles...

I had a Menace fail this weekend, seems a lense worked its way loose. I have contacted Falcon who was very helpful and willing to work with me, as well as the retailer, very eager to remedy the problem as well.

Bottom line, optics fail, how the mfr deals with customer service says a lot about the company. I just started my process with repair/replacement, but so far I have beed very impressed with the communication and sense of urgency to resolve the issue on their end.

Thanks for the update on the PST.

Do you guys have a website for Falcon? The old falconoptics.com is just a picture now. ?

Re: Falcon Menace troubles...

So My Falcon is headed off to the UK I guess.

Maybe go throw rocks?

Re: Falcon Menace troubles...

I had my elevation knob pop off when my rifle case flew out of my tote sled going 30mph. I was pretty depressed for my stupidity in going too fast. However, I used some locktite on the fine threads and spun it back on. I figured it was worth the try. And since then after 120 rds. through it I have been out to 500 yds and it is tracking real good. Thought I was ponched but the Falcon came back to life. Just figured I would add my experience to the mix.

Re: Falcon Menace troubles...

My first falcon did this same thing. The reticule would cant when you turned the power up all the way... weird. I had it replaced and it hasn't done it to me yet again. I hope it lasts for a good while.

Re: Falcon Menace troubles...

My side focus knob came off today, the three screws that are inside the housing backed out. There seems to be no way to screw them back into place. Have to email the dealer I got it from and see how long till I get a replacement, still trying to get the funds for a nightforce.

Re: Falcon Menace troubles...

I have the 5.5x25x50 and its turned out to be fine. I dont like that in the higher magnifications that it gets a lil cloudy, but hell for < $500 not bad. I just put up a trade ad if anybody is interested.

Re: Falcon Menace troubles...

Maybe I got lucky, but my Falcon 5.5-25x50 has been excellent so far. And I'm not seeing any of the cloudy issues on high magnification you guys are talking about. I shoot almost exclusively on 25x and have never had any clarity issues. In fact, I was shooting this past weekend at ~1660 yds with mine and could see hits on a standard size steel man pretty well at that range.
