Rifle Scopes Falcon Optics Warranty???

Warranty information isn't provided on any of the sites that offer Falcon, which seems rather peculiar. They don't stand behind these, do they? That's my first assumption, since the details are strangely absent, except to say "contact your dealer for warranty details". Is the dealer the one's standing behind them, and not Falcon? Has anyone had to issue a warranty claim that has first hand experience? I wonder what happens with 2nd hand ones?

Information to draw your conclusion about Falcon is readily available in this forum. Should be a pretty easy task to pick the right one.

Thanks. I couldn't agree more. I'm actually sold on Falcons based on what I've ascertained on this forum. I'm ready to buy one. I have a simple question which no one can seem to answer. I contacted Optics Warehouse and asked them specifically what the warranty is, because on this page from Falcon Optics is says "All equipment is covered by a conditional warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, for more information on warranty cover then please contact your dealer." OW's response was to cut and paste the Equipment Overview and tell me if I need any more information then I could visit falconoptics.com (which is down), or call them. Falcon says to contact the dealer. Begs some obvious questions doesn't it? So has anyone here had to deal with a warranty issue? Was the runaround similar?

General,

Why not call somebody here in the US (if you are in the US) who sells them, like RW Snyder perhaps they might know.

When I contacted Falcon directly about a year ago, I was told 5 years, to the original buyer, and no, I don't have that in writing. And no warranty card of any kind is shipped with the scopes, and I've had two of them.

But since I payed less then $320. for both scopes I ordered direct from the UK, I'll take my chances.

On the other hand if you want a great warranty, buy a Leupold. For nearly the $700. difference in price between a 4.5-14x44mm Falcon, and a Leupold MK 4 4.5-14x50mm, they can afford to give you an excellent warranty.

Buying a Falcon scope is a little like a crapshoot. You really have to depend on your vendor, not the maker, to take care of you.

You just have to weigh the risk vs benefit. If you want a FFP Mil/MIL scope for under $500. Falcon is the only game in town. And with it you are buying a maybe non-existant warranty.

Or you can pay a lot more, get less features, but have somebody to bitch to, if the product fails.

As a consumer, it's your choice.

Thanks Bob; well put. I was surprised at the runaround Optics Warehouse has been giving me; and so far no response from Falcon themselves. I'm buying one second hand, so I guess being a gambling man I'm going to give it a go. It's kind of a great deal, but if something does go wrong I'm sorta SOL, aren't I? I understand the point about "hey, it's only $400", but in my world, that's a car payment, ya know.

Bought a secondhand falcon a while back, after a while it became very unaccurate. Opened a support ticket and sendt it back to opticswarehouse, they sendt it to falcon, and they sendt me a new one. The scope was around 1 year old. So i guess the warranty is atleast 1 year.

Didn't trust it after that and sold it. (since they didn't fix it, just sendt me a new one).

I'm sure with anything being made by humans there are bound to be imperfect individual items that come off of manufacturing lines, right? It sounds like they did right by you, correct? It sounds like most folks have been happy with their performance.

So I heard back from Falcon directly and thought I should share the email they sent. They sound like they're standing behind their items, but that they have contracts with their dealers to handle warranty claims and don't necessarily deal with individuals directly. This makes sense with the US market as they are in the UK and have to do export licenses for these, which are made out to the dealers that originally receive them It makes sense to me. Here's their letter:

In the case of models supplied within the UK then we are the point of contact for return should a scope develop a fault. Customers have the option of returning the scope directly to us or back to the dealer from where they purchased, whatever is easier for them.

In your case, as you state that you are based in the US, if you were to purchase from one of our dealers in the UK (Optics Warehouse you have already mentioned) then you would still be covered by our 5 year warranty but you would be returning the scope to Optics Warehouse should it ever develop a fault rather than to us directly. Optics Warehouse would have the export license in place to export the scope to you in the first instance, they might need to assist you in order to legally export it back out of the US, they would then need a new or amended license to get the repaired/replaced scope back to you.

My advice would be to use the US based dealers that we have in place. That way a scope will only ever have to be returned to a destination within the US should a problem ever arise. US dealers offer warranty and after-care directly to you, you don't even need to contact us. Terms and conditions may differ slightly from US dealer to US dealer but they are all very likely to be offering you a 5 year repair/replace warranty very similar to what we offer direct to customers in the UK.

- So in summary if your in the UK then its a 5 year warranty backed by us.

- If you grey import from the UK then its still covered by us but your going to need to return to whoever sold it to you in order to get it taken care of and looked at by us.

- Purchase from within the US and you are backed by the warranty of the US dealer that supplied it to you. Its likely to be 5 years and is underpinned by the agreement in place between ourselves and that dealer. It might pay to contact the dealer in advance to see exactly what the terms and conditions are.

Yes, i'm happy that they sendt me a new one, i was prepared to get nothing since i bought it used. The old one worked flawlessly for 1500 rounds but suddenly started shifting.

But it was a lot of hassle to ship it from norway to the uk, witch customs and shipping costs. 1.5 months without scope on my rifle etc. so i sold it when i got a new one.

Just wanted follow up on what I've uncovered about the mystery cloaking Falcon warranties. I got a response from Optics warehouse that they cover it for 12 months (weak). I asked Nick at Falcon why the discrepancy, and he said that the warranty for UK suppliers is only 12 months (super lame), but ones bought through US dealers have a 5 year warranty. Just thought I'd share.
