quick question. In comparison ? what is the structural difference in strength between a Push-Bolt & Falling-Block ?
Is it equal or less in strength for loads and pressure ?
I have had a Ruger #1 V in .223 laying around here for quit a while and am going re-barrel it for a quality barrel . ( to long a Throat ) in the factory barrel .
Would consider a .223 ai , maybe for a little extra Vel. on the re-barrel but need a tuned-up on the falling-block fine points or Faults for strength on the Block/bolt.
Luv. the #1V for the compact feel of how short it is with a 24" barrel for hunting but don't want to waist my money for custom tube if you really cant hotrod it a little .As I got 2 other .223's that shoot.

For the 223 in a Ruger Mk 1 you'll be fine to load it plenty hot. That action can handle the small bolt face of the 223 without much issue for the bolt thrust loads.

The turn bolt is stronger as I see it, I haven't run a detailed analysis on it, but I have inspected both actions, a turnbolt has the extra ability to be a repeater as well.

Ya now that I think about what you are saying. My strength-Question is 'pretty dumbass'. As it is the same block they run on the larger Case calibers on the other # 1's . I was not thinking ... I totally DuHhhhhmmAssedout .
