Re: FAQ For Rings and Bases
Thanks, I was planning on using a PRI? Trijicon 20MOA steel base, but for the rings I cannot figure anything out. Maybe just use the PRI Trijicon steel rings too?
What are the issues you have with using aluminum? Also the recoil lug? Also some of the rail systems have the groove channel type thing cut out of the center, what is that for? example, badger vs the Larue 700 aluminum rail. The badge has the center cut out. Also the screws? I assume all are torx head, but do I really need a gunsmith to install the base? Can I not just torque all the screws down to the recommended specs and use blue loctite? My smith says he re-taps the receiver with even bigger screws to make it more sturdy? Will the recoil lug not be enough?
With the rings, I really liked the weaver picatinny 6 screw rings, but it seems like the consensus is that they are cheap. One of my biggest peeves is cheap hardware, (screw stripping, etc) so I would like to avoid this.
Lots of questions sorry, thanks in advance.
