Fastest GAP turnaround ever?

I recently sent in the following to GAP with a quoted 2 month lead time.
- Stiller TAC30
- Bartlein heavy varmint barrel
- Remington trigger

The work order was to tune the trigger, chamber, cut, thread, and cerakote the barrel, and put it all together.

9 days after confirming receipt of the parts, I got an email today saying that everything was finished and would be shipping out to me. By far the best surprise of my day!

Wow, that was fast.

I ordered my GAP Thunder Ranch in .308 in Oct 2013. Received it 4 weeks later. It was estimated to be 6 months. But, they said they try to keep parts in stock for the Thunder Ranch.

I also just got one back that took 10+ months so I guess they average out. Regardless of reason, I'll take it early!

Oh, believe me I'm passing no judgement. I would imagine there is a reason; far to differing in turnaround times for all things being equal. That's why I asked if there was any "specials" with the build.

Just rebarreling my 308 NonTypical with a #3 Rock instead of the #3 Bartlein that's on it. After building my 260 with the Rock, I just had to do the same with the 308. Awesome mountain rifle with that Rock contour.

GAP once bent the fabric of space and time, the rifle actually arrived at my door before I even ordered it. When I called them up to ask what was going on, I found out I was going to be placing the order later that day. True story, bro (not really).

Imight go 6.5 4S when my 260 barrel dies. Not real interested in chasing anything else right now, just want to hunt!

My 260 with the Rock is half a pound lighter, much handier hunting in the mountains.

Took it out to 500m and had 1st rd hits at every distance. It seems like it should be a shooter once it's fully broken in.

I got my Crusader in less than two weeks from the time I FedEx my payment to receipt of rifle if my memory serves. Rifles Ready To Ship is not good for my bank account.

Just a guess, mind you, as I don't know how GAP does it, but the apparent discrepencies in time may be due to shop procedure. Many shops do stages in batches. A gunsmith will set up to do all the barrel threading for a few days, then all the crowning, then all trigger work, then bedding, then milling, etc. If you get your order in just before your stage is ready to be done, you'll get it sooner than if you have to wait for that procedure to come back around full circle. Like I said, just a guess.

I just hope that for those who plan the lead time to save up the money, that GAP would be willing to hold the early completed work the full estimated lead time before demanding payment in full pending forfeiture.
