I'm getting started in PRS Rimfire and looking for a mid-tier ($1,200 - $2,000) scope. Discounts / used prices for the scopes below roughly put them in that window.
I am looking for someone who can offer opinions on if any substantial differences exist in controls between the scopes above. I'm particularly interested in parallax. Some have mentioned that the Athlon Cronus has 180 degrees of parallax adjustment and it is more difficult to use in PRS Rimfire competition situations than a scope like the Vortex Razor with 340 degrees. A great reviewer mentioned the best way to pick out a scope is to pay attention to the controls once your scope options had the glass quality to meet the application.
I'm also interested in warranty experiences. Most have the same warranty but reviewers have said great things about their interactions with Athlon and Leupold, not much about Trac or Zeiss, and some strong concerns about Burris. Would love your thoughts.
My main application is PRS Rimfire competitions. I assume I will dial for elevation and hold wind most of the time.
- Athlon Cronus BTR GEN2 UHD 4.5-29x56mm
- Burris Xtreme Tactical XTR PRO 5.5-30x56mm 34mm Illum SCR 2
- Leupold Mark 5HD 5 - 25 X 56 FFP PR2-MIL
- TORIC UHD 4.5-30X56 34MM MRAD ELR
- Zeiss LRP S3 6-36x56mm
