what is your favorite night hunting optic/ reticle set up for designated night hunting and predator control? excluding night vision or thermal imaging or something crazy like that. if its over $1200 please tell about it, but i cant afford it. just wanna get some bearings on what i should be looking for. i have been trolling around this forum asking about accupoints and illuminated reticles. just want to hear what you like best and why. thank you.

Why no night vision? Is it illegal in your area?
There is a green spotlight out there (forget what it's called I'll remember it in a few) that you can mount on your rifle, makes a narrow beam of green light that is visible to a couple hundred yards.

nd3 and other models from laser genetics/bsa. It's actually a laser behind a lens if i'm not mistaken, not a led or halogen bulb.

I just use a Eotech with a good weapon mounted flashlight.
I figure I won't be able to identify a target far enough away for the use of a magnified optic.

The best conventional scope for that application that is still in your price range is probably Meopta Meostar 3-12x56.
The best low light scope at any price is probably Hensoldt 6-24x72.

Ha, I really can't afford most of that stuff guys. I must say it looks fantastic. Right now I'm torn between a vortex pst 2.5-10 and the trijicon accupoint. Just looking for more options under $1000 or around that number.

Believe it or not, the VortexPST 2.5-10 is amazing in low light. Below is a copy of my post from the Shotgun thread. You just need to remember there is a helluva difference between low light and night shooting.

It holds up perfect and hits right where I aim. And yes its repeatable and tracks perfect. FYI, I have 3 PST's and a razor at this point. They all track perfect and holding up fine.
I have to say that the optics on the 2.5-20 PST amazed me for light gathering! I stayed in the woods until well after legal shooting time just to test out the light gathering capability of the scope. At almost complete darkness, at 50 yards with the naked eye, I couldn't make out much of anything in the woods other than the standard blurr you get during darkenss. Looking through the scope everything was as clear as could be and I could see perfectly fine out to 100 with complete clarity of very small objects and twigs. I actually watched a squirrel eating an acorn at about 80yards through the scope and when not using the scope, I couldnt even make out his movement as he was running around. Add the fact that it has a lighted reticle and you have a perfect hunting scope IMO.

Don't forget the USO SN-4 w the JNG reticle. Pretty large exit at 1.5X.
