Re: Feedback on the Brunton Weather Pro
It's an OK unit, I had one before I upgraded to the Kestrel 4000 that I have now. It was pretty accurate and was usually close to the readings that the Kestrel I bought put out but it had a few things going against it that I felt warranted an upgrade. I agree that the battery life is too short and the fact that there is no power button certainly doesn't help this. It can also be a bit challenging to calibrate, which isn't helped by the directions that are provided with the unit. This is especially true when trying to set it up for DA but the best way I found to get DA figures was to leave the baro. pressure alone and adjust the altimeter until it read my current elevation. I also didn't like having to scroll through all of the screens in order to get to the one that I wanted where it was easy to go past it and have to go around again. I never had any major problems though as far as it switching units and having to pop the battery out and start over again. I would say that the Brunton ADC Pro is a good unit for the money when you look at the features that it provides for the price. You get wind speed, temp, elevation, pressure, DA, timer, illuminated screen and other features similar to the Kestrel 4000. That being said, when you compare a $120 or so Brunton to a $250 Kestrel you know where that extra money has gone in terms of user friendliness, accuracy, and speed. Try it out for a bit and if you don't like it put it up for sale...it is freeish.
