Hey All,
I just got a barrel put on my M1 and am looking into loading for it. I was wondering, What are safe pressures and loads for the Garand? Originally, it was 50 grains of IMR 4895 and a 150 grain bullet. I have a bunch of H4895, but according to Hodgdon's load center, The loads are totally different. I was wondering if anyone new where I could find info on safe loads for a Garand. I dont want to start bending op rods or anything like that. Thanks

Go to the CMP Forum, Reloading sub Forum, lots of info and plenty of people to answer questions. The Hornady manuals have an M1 dedicated reloading section.

You are on the right track with 4895 but i think you can go a little lighter than 50 grns and still get accurate rounds.

I run Varget (46.5 grns) under 168 grn BTHP. For 4895 I may have been a bit heavier. 4064 is also a very good powder.
