I have a rem .22-250 in a Manners T4A with mini chassis. I have 2 5 rnd AI mags and 1 5 rnd Accurate mag that feed without issue every time. My 10 rnd AI mag will only feed smoothly if I down load it to 7 or 8 rnds max. If I try to load 9 or 10 rnds it will not feed. The tip of the bullet begins to nose down as it clears the bullet below and either flips forward in the magazine or hits the action just below the feed ramp and stops. I have tried cycling the action both slowly and fast with no difference. I am thinking it may be a feed lip issue but I am not sure. Any ideas or suggestions as to what I should look at or what may be causing the problem?

Re: Feeding issues with 10rnd mag

22-250 case has a lot of taper, causing more than the 7 rounds to cause the problem you see due to the angles all adding up and then you lose the upward pressure at the nose.

Look at an AK mag and then the tapered cartridge and you'll see why it's curved.

Don't know of a good way to fix it without a newly designed mag or follower.

Re: Feeding issues with 10rnd mag

I don't want to change the mags since I aslo will use them with my .308 once i get a scope on it. The angles makes sense and I had never thought of that. I will just stick to the 5 rounds mags. Thanks Hellbender

Hey guys, newer them calf shit here, running into issues with feeding more than 3-4 rounds of my 22-250 into my chamber from my polymer MDT 10 round .308 mag. Have any of you 22-250 ex box fed mag shooters run into the same problem and found a solution?

My buddy just had this problem. He tried playing with the feed lips, and it helped, but didn't solve the problem. Eventually, he just turned it into a 22 Creed. Cycles great now

So nice to get help in a timely fashion. Thanks for your all’s input. I talked with both MDT and SDRIFLES and MDT could only acknowledge the issue and SDRIFLES said the banana style would be a step in the right direction. I have a somewhat local Smith in going to take my riddle to and see if he can’t come up with something.
