I have an older Remington 700 short action that was made into a Darpa-ish XM-3 clone. The action was sent off to Chad at LRI to have the Clip Slot done, Ejection port opened up, Bolt timed, advanced & Tig'ed, firing pin bushed, bolt body fluted, double pinned oversized titanium recoil lug and it is a switch-barrel. 20" 6.5 Sherman Short Mag and 18.5" .308 Win. in a McMillan Stock

I'm breaking in the 6.5 SS barrel now, 100 rounds in and I want to feed from the magazine now. It seems that ammo loaded out to the max length of the AICS magazine is getting stuck underneath a sort of "feed ramp". I adjusted the magazine feed lips for the AICS 300 WSM magazines and the rounds will not tip-up towards the chamber. They are held down by the steel "feed ramp" of the action. Suggestions and recommendations??? Unfortunately I'm up against the clock and wanted to take the rifle up to PA for a late September shoot.

Seat the bullet deeper.
That will not alleviate his issue.
Recoil from the first round will make remaining rounds in the magazine seat forward and place the tip of the next bullet in the same spot.

Your method would definitely work if he were willing to slam the butt of the rifle into the ground after each shot.

Terry's correct.

You'll either need to notch the action, or use the AICS mags with the binder plate, and subsequently seat the projectile to match the COAL of the magazine with the binder plate.

That’s exactly the problem I had with my Origin. I could seat them deep enough to cycle through at home; after the first shot at the range, not so much.

I actually prefer a 3/16" stone on a dremel, makes a nice small notch. Not much is needed and it doesnt need to be wide. Find center of feed ramp, working from underside makes this job easy, mark with sharpie and just make a 1/8-3/16" deep notch. The rd doesnt use the bottom 1/3 of feed ramp anyway during feeding, so with a nice precise cut, no clean up is needed.
